So in youth hockey they follow districts...

In HS, they go by sections? So section 7 would have D(east), Elk River etc ... ???

If that's the case, that's alot of drive for practice.

What happens with sections that are no where near each other?

Section 3 AA: Jefferson, STA, Burnsville, Eagan, etc ...
Section 3 A : Litchfiled, Willmar, Luverne, New Ulm, etc ...

I'm sure it's been said thousands of times ... but it just seems dumb.

Must be a better way to divide that up, sections 6 and 8 are brutal as well.

A 3 1/2 hour drive from the cities to Luverne, from a practice that ends after 10:00pm on a Tuesday, puts the kid snugly in his bed around 2:00am. At least he doesn't have to worry about studying in the car for his upcoming ACT exam.

Just as far for some northern kids. If you are going to play higher level hockey (not that the HP league is really that) you better learn to time manage early. Why would a kid be studying at that time anyway? Sleep on the way home. Study during down time or on the ride there. You don't cram for the ACT anyway.

They said most likely no practice would be scheduled for section 7 because of the drive.
