hey nahc. you are a moron right? why on earth would anybody in this thread give a rats nest about who the latest coach of Lakeville south is going to be.

but I do understand why you posted that on this thread. nobody cares about your section in the state of Minnesota other than Lakeville. state wide - 7AA I feel, has more of a following than any other section.

Really curious to see if he is the guy who takes this program back to where it should be. #HalloweenMachine

The coach from East hasn't had much trouble coaching against ex NLHers in the postseason. Trent and Gordy, who is next in 7AA? Fred Barrett...

Klatt should be able to take Thawks to the X this year. Depending on who you read and talk to, Rapids is ranked either in the top five or top 10 going into preseason. Assuming no departure of key seniors

I'm not sure when Giles took over but since Randolph has been coach at East, he has a 4-2 record against Edina in the State Tournament.

1995 East 6, Edina 2
1997 Edina 1, East 0
2000 East 4, Edina 2
2011 East 2, Edina 1
2013 Edina 3, East 2
2015 East 3, Edina 1

Randolph is 11-8 all-time vs. Giles, including 4-2 at State (counting consolation rounds; it's 3-1 in the championship bracket). He's 20-11 against Edina since starting at East.

There was a great interview with Trent Klatt on KOZY this morning. He has such a great perspective and experience. Could listen to him talk hockey in Minnesota and his philosophies/strategies on hockey for a few hours. I like the fact he is going to take a hands on approach from the youth levels up and change the philosophy. More focus on skill development instead of just games at the younger levels. Also, he wants to see more time for youth teams spent playing in the Twin Cities and Duluth so they just get more used to playing at the elite level. There were other things I really liked to hear that will be noticed once the season begins. Very exciting times for GR!

Who got the better hire? Greenway or Grand Rapids? I think both programs got great hires for their squads!!

Probably Rapids. Klatt certainly has the better noncoaching and probably coaching resume.

Anyone who thinks Rapids is in the top five or ten going into next year is either a parent, off their medication, or some combination of the two.

I don't fit into your criteria, and I agree that expecting top 5 is a bit much, but I think Rapids will be top ten for sure. Last season was the year of unrealistic expectations, given that the team had essentially no senior talent. This year they will be anchored by talented upperclassmen, and there are a couple sophomores that can be solid varsity players this season for sure.

One has to believe Klatt will be an upgrade at coaching (due to Klatt's resume, not a slam on Rothstein). I think the real question mark will be in nets. The kid is a sophomore, but he is also one of the best if not the best for his age group, so it depends on how quickly he adapts to the speed and intensity of varsity.

I fully expect them to be top ten all season, with their tougher schedule keeping them out of the top 5. Should be fun to see where Klatt can take this team over the next couple years. Hopefully past Elk River and East for a change.

It was too bad for last year's seniors that Rothstein didn't pull up a bantam goalie. Either one was better than the upper classmen. That could have been what alot of parents were unhappy about. Rapids had plenty of experience on the blueline and capable forwards. Plenty of freshman play varsity hockey. The net tender was always the weak link for this group.

Expectations need to be lowered in Grand Rapids. I don't know much about next years top 10 but I would think these teams would be ahead of Grand Rapids.

Hill Murray
St Thomas academy
Lakeville north
Eden prairie
Edina
Wayzata
Benilde st Margaret's
Duluth east
Blaine
Bemidji
Then other teams worth something...
Prior lake ?
Minnetonka ?
Burnsville ?
Moorhead ?
Maple grove ?

Just to address one of them.......I'd say it's very doubtful that Moorhead will be rated higher than Rapids next season.

Looks a lot like Rapids schedule next year so I guess we will find out where they belong.
