GB/others: your thoughts on Zim now, vs his junior HS season and playoffs.....

Huge tournament for both Zimmer and Duhaime. Zimmer is definitely a '16 NHL pick. Duhaime might be worth a look as 2nd-yr eligible.

The Chicago Steel took bronze at the Junior Club World Cup with a 3-2 win over Avto. Duhaime, Zimmer, and Laczynski scored for the Steel
Max Zimmer
Moderators: Mitch Hawker, east hockey, karl(east)
My opinion:
He's always been a high end talent who has been a stud in The highly competitive Wayzata system all the way up.
I would be shocked if you saw him playing HS this season especially after the train wreck Wayzata HS hockey has been last few season under O'Leary who I think needs to see his way to the door.
Zimmer playing 3rd and 4th line last yr? Kidding me?!?!
LN would love to have ya max!

SATS-No sense pulling punches. I recall that theme of yours many times in recent years.
From me:
I will always fondly remember Zims freshman year playing varsity dazzling the crowd and opponents with quick stick handling and footwork
Bad memory: Section 6 playoff at BIG Rink 1 last season missing the cage a dozen times. For whatever reason, is up for debate.
Great to see him back on track and a goal scoring machine , good luck with the Steel and presumably on to the U of W. Would be great to see him in the 16 draft.
He seemed to grow by 3 inches every season. I wonder what is his height and weight with the Steel right now.

Just telling it like it is. Let's be honest here: how many kids who have committed to a D1 school after their soph yr in HS do you see getting 3rd/4th line mins? It's a joke.WestMetro wrote:SATS-No sense pulling punches. I recall that theme of yours many times in recent years.

WMetro: I will take the high road since it's only September 1st, but let's just say that Wayzata hasn't been kind to D1 forwards the past many years. Freytag and Zimmer's junior years weren't eye popping and then they go to another team the following year and play well (Zimmer small sample size) Senden could be put in that group as well. You have to scratch your head when a sophomore defensemen who spent a lot of time in the penalty box had just as many goals as Senden and Zimmer combined. It's not 100% the coaches fault and the players have to step up and overcome obstacles, Young minds are sometimes stubborn and kids get down on themselves when things don't go well. Of course a coach needs to be able to relate with the kids. A 500 record for a team with that much talent isn't good. Pressure is on for the Trojans this year as the pipeline is a little dry the next few years. GB
S a TS: I see a few less trips to Ames this year, and less posts of astonishment. That was truly an amazing team!
GB: frankly I see a few less trips up to Plymouth ice center this year
Might have to be spending a little more time in Eden Prairie and Minnetonka, and I might get adventurous and get over to St. Croix Valley ice arena, although my usual furthest expedition out of the west metro is only to Aldrich arena
