Goalie Peter Thome signs with North Dakota

Post by Ozzie82 »

Thome, from Minneapolis, played for BSM JV then left when Coach Pauley made it clear he preferred Jalen Long in net. Peter left BSM to go play in Chicago for the Fury.

Thome to Chicago.

Scott to Detroit (now Omaha).

And let's not forget Baer.

For a coach who has a high profile role on the MN hockey scene, I'd say Pauly's done his part to advance the case for talented players to leave MN as a viable option.

Craig Perry had his kid leave for the NA.

Seem to recall Bitner also had his kid leave for the WHL.

And yet we don't like it when kids leave. Can you say out of both sides, depending on when it serves best?

BTW, congrats to Thome! Took a risk and it has paid off so far.

Considering a majority of his team likely left public school to get on a competitive private school team, he lacks a bit of credibility on the issue.

As a college fan first and foremost, I couldn't care less if Minnesotans leave Minnesota as long as they stay on the college path. I may advise them against it, but it depends on the circumstances.

Congrats to Andrew. He had the sense to choose the right conference!!

Congrats on the commitment! Can be difficult to make goalies happy at the HS level with the lack of games. BSM had Long, Bischel, Scott, Scites, Thome, and Stauber all in school and only 1 net.

That is some good goalie talent. How many stayed?

Can proudly say I gave him his first pair of pads....kid came out of the park board program and if I am not mistaken his first year of organized hockey with Minneapolis was as a first year peewee. Congrats Peter.
