From Minnesota Hockey:
"All,
I have some very sad news to report as Minnesota Hockey legend, Bob O’Connor passed away early this morning in Edina.
Bob had enormous success as a youth, high school and national team coach, and was a mentor to many in the hockey world. Bob made a huge impact on hockey in Minnesota and across the country, including his 14-year term as National Coach-in-Chief.
Nearly a year ago, Bob was just the seventh recipient of the USA Hockey Builders Award, given to an individual who has made lasting contributions to the long-term growth and success of USA Hockey. He is the only person to ever be recognized with three of USA Hockey’s major awards (Builders, William Thayer Tutt and Walter Yaciuk).
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Alice, sons Mike and Paul, and all of his hockey family and friends.
I will pass along more information as it becomes available.
Glen"
