True, it could be an advantage for Wayzata to have already played games.

But Wayzata played a tough game 14 hours before they played East, and HS kids or not, they won't have the same energy reserves as a team who did not play the night before.

Good point. I've always thought that in the State Tournament the team that wins that last game on Thursday night has a big disadvantage to overcome, first having less recovery time for their game on Friday, and if they happen to win their first two games in such a short timeframe it really takes a toll in Saturday's Championship. At least in Class A everyone gets a day off, which makes things more even.

Still waiting for the East contingent to confirm that Dow and Spencer did not play for the Hounds yesterday. I did not see them out there. Also, impressive display by the freshmen: Baker, who scored two goals, Paine, who moved well on a regular shift on defense and Ryder Donovan. And Auston Crist was a beast, who had 4-5 quality scoring chances.

They did not play but should be back soon

Heckuva display by those who did play for a first game without two of their more experienced leaders out there. What's up with Dow and Spencer then?

Maybe, but I would still rather play the night before than have it be my first game against a top team who is on their 4th game. I'd rather be a little tired than risk being rusty against a good team.
I'm not sure if you are trying to make an excuse or not for Wayzata, but East was missing two of their better players and still put on a decent beat down. I don't think the game with Hermantown the night before makes a difference if you play against an East team who played that well.

Make an excuse for Wayzata? Gross! No way.
I have no dog in the fight, Just thought playing the night before should be taken into account when assessing the result of the game.

Funny how some serious hackles went up due to an innocent suggestion. :)

Almost as funny. He got 10 minute misconduct for throwing puck. He didn't have a stick and it was a delayed penalty on Wayzata. Puck was going towards Wayzata net, dump in and Sorenson was being chased by Duluth East skater, he tried to kick it and ref didn't blow whistle. So he grabbed puck and tossed it 10-15 feet in the air to get whistle. Ref called penalty for throwing puck. GB

I did not say he did well every game. Overall though (on paper anyhow) he had a decent season.
Meierhoff seems to be doing just fine so far. GR soph has much to learn. I would not hang my state championship hopes on a soph goalie with no varsity experience. . No matter what hadenuf thinks (but he has the benefit of the GR PR machine so he too will be just fine down the road.)

I'm not hanging my hopes on anything. Rapids has lots of things to fix before that time comes.

AND NOW BACK TO THE "SATS BASHING" SHOW.

Lol. Again, LN has lost 3 of their last 60 games. GR has lost 3 of their last 5. Think about that for a second.
