The Elite League is partnering with Shattuck to create a Prospects tournament here in Minnesota next year.

This will compete with the Canada's tournament and will give the local and surrounding players an opportunity to stay closer to home.

More information to follow

I like the idea of staying closer to home but let's hope they have a better fomat than the one in Toronto. With 12 minute stop time periods in round robin games and if I remember correctly, the "playoffs" were one 30 minute stop time period, I wouldn't spend the money to go up there again!

The thing you have to remember about Prospect tournaments is they are for the chance to be seen. Scouts are not there to watch which team is the best. They are looking for players, oftentime, players who can stand out on a team of players not used to playing together.

Many of the teams in Toronto where just that, the Detroit teams (Honeybaked, Little Ceasars) had kids from all over the country on them. Just trying to make an impression. Same for the Minnesota teams. most were kids that would not normally play together, and most likely, came together only for this event.

If you want the exposure, sometimes you need to go to where the scouts will be watching...even if the terms of the game are not to your liking.
