Re: The Best High School Hockey Team in the State!
Just to correct what MaroonGold4EVA posted. AHA lost 2 games this year, one to Shattuck as he said, and Centennial beat them by 6 goals at the Christmas tourney.

Apologize for that, I thought they only lost once to SSM. My mistake.

Better team
Ok, so Moorhead might have been the better team... but don't they play the games for a reason? Games aren't won on paper...

Also, you can add the 2000 Elks to your list of best teams that didn't win it all... <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... rassed.gif ALT=":o">
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Re: Better team
slapshotbg, before you start calling A hockey the 'kids table', here's a link: - <a href="http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandfork ... - if you care to read it on why Warroad decided to stay in A and not move up to AA. I'd like to see them go to AA as well, but after reading the article, it makes sense why they chose to stay in A. I do think Roseau has it right in some aspects recognizing that AA is the premier tourney, but the A champioinship game was a classic in state hockey.

Moorhead's goaltending, coaching, and giving up odd-man rush goals were key in their defeat. The bad call didn't help, and that definnitely could have changed the game. But that's what it was, a bad call, and you can't let that decide the game either. Unfortunately Moorhead didn't help themselves either as well. A great game to watch and be at, and I'd love to see some type of A versus AA game of each classes winner, but that won't happen anytime soon.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... asher42 at: 3/7/05 3:57 pm

Re: Moorhead Goal
Enough already AGAIN about the disallowed goal, Come on, HA was up by 2 at that point, if the goal counts the rest of the game is much differnt including the fact that Moorhead scored about ~30 seconds later! If the goal counts does Moorhead score ~30 seconds later? DOUBTFUL Second when Moorhead did score ~ 30 seconds later if I am not mistaken HA scored again and made it a two goal game not allowing Moorhead to get any momentum.
AND everyone who seriously follows the state tournament knows that call was nothing compared to the OT goal that Duluth East scored against Apple Valley that was not allowed in the 3rd or 4th OT in one of the greatest games ever played. Apple Valley ended up winning in 6 OT,s and beat Edina the next night. That was Spehars and Lockers senior year and the call prevented East from defending their title from the previous year. If i recall their was no whining froim East either.
By the way talking about the graetest hockey team ever East had:

Dave Spehar-Mr. Hockey
Dylan Mills -Future Mr. Hockey
Nick Angel- Future Mr. Hockey
Chris Locker maybe the best player
GO HOUNDS!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... @mnhs>East Hockey Puck at: 7/24/05 11:59 am
