Two of our four Tuesday night games are reported as final:
Blake 3, St. Paul United 1
Lucy Burton’s two goals led Blake, ranked No. 1 in Class A, to a 3-1 win over St. Paul United, ranked No. 3 in Class A. It was the United’s first loss of the season. For the game Blake held a narrow 24-21 edge in shots on goal.
In this week’s contest Blake was a near-unanimous favorite to win this game, by a 26-2 margin. Perfect scores of 3-1 were forecasted by wolfman, hugo_lucas, mnhockey3535 and MN_Bowhunter who get an early jump on the rest of the field.
Edina 2, Minnetonka 2 (OT)
Minnetonka scored two goals in the last minute of the 3rd period, including Emma Bigham’s tying goal with just 2 seconds remaining, to tie the game at 2-2. A scoreless overtime period ensued, and the Skippers salvaged the tie.
Almost everyone predicted this would be a one goal game, but nobody predicted the two teams would tie, so no points all around. 18 of 28 had Tonka winning, narrowly escaping getting left behind by the 10 who favored the Hornets.

Stillwater 1, Cretin-Derham Hall 3
Erin Meyers scored with just 4 seconds left in the 2nd period to knot the score at 1-1, then Emily King and Anna Klein each added goals in the 3rd for No. 10AA Cretin-Derham Hall as they skated past No. 16AA Stillwater, 3-1.
25 of 28 had the higher-ranked Raiders winning, and their were four who correctely forecasted 3-1: Hansonbrother, READYtoPLAY, u12dad and MNHockeyFan (:)).
Hopefully the result of the New Prague/Mound Westonka game will be up soon and I'll be able to post the first Leaderboard of the week before retiring for the evening!

New Prague 5, Mound Westonka 7
Despite being outshot 22-34, No. 8A Mound Westonka was able to capitalize on its chances, scoring seven times to get past No. 7A New Prague at Thaler Sports Center. Liz Schepers scored two goals and added an assist, and Lauren Burris had a goal and three assists for the White Hawks, while Kaitlyn Blair scored twice for the Trojans.
Our panel was pretty divided on this one. 13 liked New Prague to win, while 15 favored Mound Westonka. Nobody came even remotely close on the score.

The first of our two games is now being reported as a final:
Thief River Falls 3, East Grand Forks 0
Briana Jorde, a senior who will be playing for Bemidji State next season, had a goal and an assist to lead Thief River Falls over East Grand Forks. Sophomore (sister?) Tessa Jorde and Madison Poole also scored for the Prowlers, while Mariah Nelson stopped all 12 Green Wave shots to get the shutout.
24 of 28 had the higher ranked Prowlers winning. But only one - mnhockey3535 - correctly called their 3-0 shutout win.

New Prague 1, Eden Prairie 2 (OT)
Lauren Oberle's unassisted goal with just 1:33 remaining in the overtime period lifted No. 5AA Eden Prairie over the upset-minded No. 10A New Prague Trojans at the Eden Prairie Community Center. Oberle also scored the Eagle's first goal in the opening period, which was also an unassisted tally. New Prague's Sydney Culshaw did her part to keep her team in it until the very end, making 45 saves, including 14 in overtime. At the other end EP's Alexa Dobchuk surrendered just one goal on 20 New Prague shots.
With an average predicted score of 4.4 to 0.9, this was a much closer game than everyone here thought. Nobody predicted the Eagles would be held to just 2 goals, but all 28 had them winning the game.
With mnhockey3535's correct score call in the Thief River Falls/East Grand Forks game, he takes the interim lead with 7 points:

The first of our three Big Games this evening is now a final:
Proctor/Hermantown 1, Blaine 3
After a scoreless 1st period, and a scoreless 2nd period, Callie Hoff scored short-handed to get Proctor/Hermantown on the board just under three minutes into the 3rd. Blaine answered less than a minute later when Ramsey Parent scored on the power play. The game remained tied at one until Paige Beebe scored another power play goal with 4:44 remaining. Gabby Rosenthal then scored Blaine's third goal, this time at even strength, with just under two minutes left. For the game the Bengals outshot the Mirage 34-19.
All 28 on our panel picked 7th ranked Blaine to win, and four also got the score right and earn the extra point: 36Guy, glovesareoff, nu2hockey and clutterbucket. The standings will be updated when tonight's other two games are posted as final.

Our two remaining games are now final:
Elk River/Zimmerman 8, Grand Rapids/Greenway 1
Raelyn Korinek scored two goals and added two assists to lead Elk River/Zimmerman to a dominating 8-1 win at the IRA Civic Center in Grand Rapids. Madison Bizal, Breanna Simon and Alexandra Gallus each had a goal and two assists. The Elks outshot the Thunderhawks 35-17.
All but two had the Elks winning, but nobody predicted they would score eight goals. Closest to getting the score right was 'The Bone', who had it at 7-0.
East Grand Forks 2, Warroad 3
After a scoreless 1st period Tiffani Foster scored twice in the 2nd to stake the Warriors to a 2-0 lead. Leah Pesch scored on a power play four minutes later to cut Warroad's lead to 2-1 only to have Grace Pederson restore the Warriors' two goal lead with her late 2nd period goal. Geena Boyum again cut the Warriors' lead to one with her goal 3:30 into the 3rd, but Warroad goalie Meghan Thomas shut the door the rest of the way to preserve the 3-2 win.
25 of 26 predicted a Warriors victory, but most had it by a wider margin. But not Knight7, wolfman, READYtoPLAY or rascalbrock - they all got it right with their 3-2 predictions.
Heading into this week's final four game day, our Leaderboard looks like this:

Looking ahead to tomorrow, the Edina/EP game should prove pivotal, as our group is very evenly split on who wins: 14 to 13 Edina with one tie.

Scores from today:
Breck 1, Blake 0 (OT)
Kendall Williamson's overtime goal, on an assist from Anna Zumwinkle, at 2:11 into overtime won it for the Breck Mustangs over their main private school rival, the Blake Bears. Blake outshot Breck 33-24 but Jenna Brenneman stopped them all to earn the shutout.
A big upset according to our group. Only Knight7 predicted Breck would prevail, so he gains a critical point on the rest of the field.
Chaska/Chanhassen 0, Hill-Murray 7
Abigail Boreen's hat trick led No. 1AA Hill-Murray to a surprisingly easy 7-0 win over 6AA Chaska/Chanhassen. Boreen, who's just a sophomore, also added an assist for a four point day. Jac Kaasa scored two goals and also had an assist. Mari Johnson needed to make just 15 saves for her shutout, her 5th of the season.
All but one had the Pioneers, but nobody got the score (average was 4.0 to 1.4).
No scores yet on the Edina/EP game (5:00pm start) or the CDH/WBL game (7:30pm start).

Cretin-Derham Hall 4, White Bear Lake 2
Cretin-Derham Hall used a balanced attack in defeating White Bear Lake in a Suburban East Conference game played at the Vadnais Sports Center. It was Jordan Hansen's 1st Period power play goal that held up as the game winner for the Raiders, who outshot the Bears 38-26.
24 of 28 had CDH prevailing by an average score of 3.2 to 1.6. JohnnyBuck and panpan111 each nailed the 4-2 score to get the bonus.
Still waiting on the Edina/EP game, which had a 5:00pm start. For whatever reason, it seems that scores coming out of the Eden Prairie Sports Center have been very slow all season.

Edina 0, Eden Prairie 1
Kate Rydland's goal with just 16 seconds left in regulation broke a scoreless tie and lifted the No. 5AA Eden Prairie Eagles over the No. 2AA Edina Hornets played at the Eden Prairie Community Center. EP's Alexa Dobchuk stopped all 32 Edina shots to earn the shutout, while Edina's Anna Goldstein also played well in saving all but one of Eden Prairie's 34 shots on goal.
As it turned out, this was Week 8's "Game of the Week" as our panel was almost evenly split as to who would win this key Lake Conference matchup. A much more defensive game than nearly everyone expected, as only massalsa thought it would be a 1-0 game. But unfortunately he had the scores reversed, so nobody called it 1-0 in favor of the Eagles. But, 13 of 28 did have EP winning, and they get a point each. So here is how Week 8 ended - congrats to Knight7, wolfman, u12dad, mnhockey3535 and nu2hockey for finishing in a five-way tie for 1st Place:
