2016 Class A Sections - Your Predictions!

Here is the separate prognosticator contest for the 2016 Class A sectional playoffs. Again, feel free to enter just this one or both Class A and AA - same rules apply:

1. Post your predicted scores of each section’s two semifinal games and its final game by the indicated posting deadline for each section. These deadlines are shown in large bold type atop each section listed below. Participants will post their predictions for 3 games in each of the 8 sections, or 24 games in all. Note that we will NOT be posting predictions for the quarterfinal games, but in effect you are picking the winners of the quarterfinal games by having to identify the four teams that make each section’s semi’s (sounds a little complicated, but it’s not – see sample below!).

2. OK to post your predictions for the various sections separately as long as you post each one by its due date. Note that the first due date (for Section 3A) is Tuesday February 2nd, at 7:00pm, so make sure you have your predictions posted for at least that section by this time.

3. Points will be awarded as follows:
1 point for correctly identifying each team that advances to a semifinal round
3 points for predicting the winner of each semifinal game
5 points for predicting the winner of each section final game
2 bonus points for each correct score

Without any correct scores each section has a maximum of 15 points. With everything perfect (including getting the scores of all three games right) each section has a 21 point maximum. Last year’s Class A winner, clutterbucket, finished with 111 points which averaged out to 13.9 points per section.

Here is a sample posting for Section 1A – all of your sections should follow this format:

Please note that as of the time of this opening post the seedings for Sections 2A, 6A, 7A and 8A have not been completed. These will be added to this opening post as soon as they are made available. I wanted to get this started now because of the fast-approaching deadlines, as noted for each section. The first of these is 3A for which your predictions will need to be posted by Tuesday at 7:00PM. Next up are 1A, 4A and 5A on Wednesday at the times shown. Feel free to post them separately or in bunches when you’re ready or, if you’d rather do them all at once, be sure to get them up by Tuesday at 7:00PM.

Was thinking the same...in just checking I see that the 3A quarterfinals have been rescheduled for 7:00PM tomorrow (Wednesday). So 7:00PM Tuesday for 1A & 3A, and 7:30PM for 4A and 5A.

(Edited to correct due dates because of Tuesday snowstorm!)

Was thinking the same...if they don't play the 3A quarterfinals tonight the next deadline is 5:30PM tomorrow (Wednesday) for 5A. Then 7:00PM for 1A and 7:30PM for 4A, also tomorrow.

Now confirmed - the 3A games scheduled for tonight have been moved to tomorrow (Wednesday). So plenty of time for anyone to get in. See this link for starting game times tomorrow - these will serve as deadlines for posting predictions for the sections that get this underway tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who posted their missing sections. Besides 6A - which as of 7:30 still hasn’t been seeded - we are now down to two who have not yet posted their 2A selections:

hugo_lucas – 2A
u12dad - 2A

The deadline for 2A is tomorrow (Thursday) at 7:00PM, so hopefully you see this post before then.

Regarding 6A the MSHSL site still says “Exact times and locations are still being determined”

But it appears that their first games will also be tomorrow evening at 7:00PM, so be sure to check back before then so you can add that section on time.

P.S. to u12dad: I know they're good, but do you really think Warroad is going to score 45 goals in the 8A final?
