Greenway/Rapids Rivalry
At the Rapids game vs Andover I was standing next to the mascot. A kid of about 8 gave the T'hawk a high five and said " Greenway sucks". Dang I miss that rivalry. Hope Rapids drops Denfeld and adds Greenway next year.

That would be awesome. I think Greenway is close to being competitive enough to make it a good game. Even if they were a couple steps behind GR the rivalry factor would probably make it closer than it would suggest on paper. Then again they haven't played for quite a few years, is the rivalry still alive between the current teams and players?

You do realize Greenway couldn't compete cause they didn't have the numbers and barely had the numbers to put a team together.
I remember when Rapids had to play a little dirty hockey to try play with Greenway. What was that run for Greenway 96-97 or 97-98 to 2001 or some where abouts Rapids couldn't win a game against the Green Machines and that wasn't cause Rapids didn't have the numbers either.

Enrollments: Rapids 1014, Greenway 258. Rapids has 4 times the enrollment, however, if Rapids was only twice the size, Greenway would be competitive every year. They have twice the heart, twice the work ethic and twice the determination to make up the difference. I've seen Rapids play four times and they are the ones who are playing dirty this year.

But Greenway covers way more square miles, from Coleraine to Keewatin
Those are great intangibles but unfortunately life is rarely a story book ending like that. A team needs a certain amount of talent and skill or an elite player or two. I do agree the games I've seen Greenway does work hard, tonight against Hermantown, they make it tough to play against them.
It must be the Greenway blood in Adams that is bringing out all the dirty play.

Heard at the Greenway/Johnson game last night that Rapids and Greenway will be playing each other next season. Hope it's true. They are trying hard to upgrade their schedule for next year. Other team mentioned was Duluth Marshall.

This is great news. Greenway will be even better next year as they will return most of their scoring and they have a solid bantam team that should provide some talent.greenwayraider wrote:Heard at the Greenway/Johnson game last night that Rapids and Greenway will be playing each other next season. Greenway's real question next year will be in goal, which makes me wonder if one of the GR goalies might end up there.
