I believe you meant first #1 seed for Rapids since 1992. Cloquet was the 1 seed in '93 going 21-1 in the regular season (back then we played only 22 reg season games), only loss being to Denfeld in the regular season.

Yes. 1992. Thank you. We have updated the story.

The Elks do not want to be in 7AA so they play as little as possible section games.

They have 17 conference games and are in two holiday tournaments. That leaves them with 2 whole games to schedule nonconference 7AA opponents. They use those spots on East and Hill-Murray. It's not their fault, really.

If only a certain team would opt up to AA, we could move the Elks into a section they want to be in...and with half of the section then in the greater Duluth area, we could more or less resolve the location debate, too. If only...

Andover and ER not a great fit. ER to 8AA, Andover to 5AA and Htown to 7AA. We can only hope...

We don't want ER. We don't want StMA or Buffalo.
WE should get the new combined mighty St cloud team. If we got EFG and TRF and Alex we would be good.

Moorhead, Brainerd, St Cloud, Alex, Roseau, East Grand Forks, Thief River Falls, and Bemidji.

7AA can fix their own.
But if they need it:
DEast
DMarshall
GRapids
Cloquet
Hermantown
Hibbing
Cambridge
St. Francis

Well, he'd probably mean Marshall, but they already moved up so it narrows down the list of suspects to....uhhhhh....one. :)

East 5, Lakeville South 4, Final (OT). Rocky, but credit the Hounds for finding a way to come back and win near the end.

Give Elk River the 2-seed.

From last night: Forest Lake 6, St. Francis 5. Should keep FL at the 6 seed and St Franny at 7. We'll find out around 5:30 today the Official Seeds. I'll be surprised if we don't have QF matchups like this:

1. Grand Rapids vs 8. Andover or 9. Cambridge
4. Cloquet vs 5. Duluth Marshall
2. Elk River vs 7. St. Francis
3. Duluth East vs 6. Forest Lake

I am not sold on Duluth Marshall at 5? I guess yes a signature win over East, But only 8 or 9 wins on the season and losses to Proctor, Cloquet? A head to head with Forest Lake would have helped this one. I could see FL getting a 5 seed.

The seeding kind of breaks down like this to me:

1-3 East, Rapids, Elk River
4 Cloquet
5-8 Marshall, Forest Lake, Andover, St. Francis
9 Cambridge

I'm not saying St. Francis could be 5 or Marshall could be 8, but is seems like within those groups there is potential wiggle room for each club.

Forest Lakes only decent win is at CEC. Their schedule is not strong, and the pagestat SOS rankings reflect that. I personally would like to put FL at 5 because it would make an interesting 3/6 East/Marshall QF. I just don't see a way to justify it.

7AA Goalies

Post by ImRickJames »

Since goaltending becomes so much more important this time of year, can anyone provide information on which 7AA teams have the best goaltending? Can any of these goalies steal a game? Lose a game?

Well, if they seed off of one game pretending the other 24 didn't happen I suppose a lot of things are possible.

Care to explain the logic here? Even as a GR hater I'd have to say that there's no logical reason to put ER ahead of GR except for the H2H game. But in that case, you might as well put DE ahead of ER since DE beat ER H2H. Of course then you have to put GR ahead of DE since GR beat DE H2H.
