I guess after watching and wondering at the red team propensity for self destruction in important games, it might finally be that my question is answered. If the 3A chirpers are parents or relatives of the players (more than likely), it is no wonder your team shows symptoms of discipline problems, lack of team unity, and lack of leadership on the ice (losses in every close game against weaker teams). Attitude usually starts at home. Got to give respect to get it.

I can't imagine the backlash if the Luverne coach did something like this.
I'm guessing that over the years, the players/parents have done enough to warrant his behavior. If you want them to be coddled, play soccer!!
I can't hardly imagine the Luverne faithful would ever offend or be rude to opposing players or coaches.

Parents, relatives, or former players. The few years I've been in southern MN it's apparent those are the Red Army supporters on here doing the fishing. Always nice when they lose the board goes silent with the exception of a few accounts.

HA!

Wait a second, are you justifying the RWV Coach giving the middle finger to a 15 year old?

That's what you're doing here??

I mean, it doesn't hurt my feelings, and im sure it just motivated the team, but no way can you justify that.

Can you bluelightspecial 2?

Probably the first time that young player has ever seen or been given the finger. Say a prayer tonight if you would.

I understand that the Luverne faithful can sometimes be a bit"enthusiastic"! That justifies some of the comments here. However, if a Coach did do this I would believe we could agree it could be neither justified nor condoned.

Having said that, really hoping for a Luverne/Redwood re-match in the playoffs!!

That wasn't a bird----that was giving credit for one more "mighty" step towards the super duper all time point record in the modern world-For B high school level play. LOL.

I'm sure they've seen and heard worse at home! If the 15 year old was "THE BEST IN THE COUNTRY", I hope he's not to traumatized. It would be a shame if this hampered his career.

To answer your question, no I don't condone it, just think you and a few others are making it bigger than it really is. Watch the game!

I was at the luverne/Marshall game.... Saw the second goal get scored.... Saw the celebration... Saw a gesture... But the gesture was a thumbs up from what appeared to be one of the players with coach stremcha... Sad whiner33 turns this good example of sportsmanship into bashing redwood valley! Which happens to be the only team in the conference that beat luverne and the only team you luverne lovers seem to be bashing on this thread... Coincidence???

Final Seedings
1. Luverne
2. Litch
3. Hutch
4. RWV
5. New Ulm
6. Marshall
7. Willmar
8. Windom
9. Fairmont
10. Morris
11. Worthington

The only one I missed was Willmar and Marshall, which is odd because they played once and Willmar won 6-2.

Interesting tid-bit, only one head coach didnt show up to the meeting.....

Let me get this straight

Post by tututangous »

I love to read this thread. It's better than a soap opera. Thanks!

Let me see if I understand this correctly:
1. Section 3a is made up of good farm families and small towns separated by two hour drives between less than 10 arenas.
2. luverne birthed a corn fed kid that reached 6'4" by 14 that chose hockey over basketball
3. The stars aligned when an enthusiastic, young hockey coach came along at the same time as big kid
4. Enthusiastic hockey coach runs away while the iron is still hot to an area with more kids to feed a program long term. Best time to find a better job is when you don't need one, right?

My crystal ball says:
1. With no up and comers to the varsity program, big kid will also see the writing on the wall and run away to juniors next year
2. The Luverne program will quietly slip back into the ranks of 3a next year without big kid, and their 15 minutes will expire. (Keep the thread alive though please!)

There are some big distances and low population numbers in SW MN. It makes sense to me why other sports are more popular. Kudos to the parents, coaches and kids out in 3a that keep hockey alive for the sheer love if the game.

No up and comers to the varsity program? Did you see the Luverne JV play against Marshall Tuesday night? There are plenty of up-and-comers in the Luverne program. The sophomore class alone is loaded: Harder, Kruse, and Beers are part of that class along with Nelson.

Nope, what we have in these forums is irrational hatred towards a successful program (by 3A standards). But then, I saw the same hate posts towards Roseau and Edina for the same reasons. In fact, when Roseau were ranked in the Top 10 of AA several years back, one child registered his moniker as "roseausucks" and proceeded to bash bash bash. You don't see that moniker anymore; perhaps he changed his moniker and is bashing Luverne these days.

Grow up people! This is high school sports!! High school. Most of these players will not extend their hockey careers beyond high school, so let's celebrate what they are doing within that context.

I seriously doubt that the Luverne program will quietly "slip back". In nearly all other sports Marshall beats Luverne consistently, but in ice hockey it is the reverse. I would rather see Marshall (and Worthington, Fairmont, Windom, etc.) raise their games to Luverne's level rather than see Luverne "slip back".

Irrational hatred? The Luverne folk are the ones consistently dogging people. Before Stremcha it was Lord, you can't expect other people to bow down when Luverne fans, players, and coaches are consistently rude. There is no doubt what they have done has been an accomplishment and great for 3A but at the end of the day they have 1 state appearance with these "stars" they have. If you want people to stop trash talking Luverne, show some respect to other teams, and wait for results before referring to your team being on their own level.

There is nothing successful about 1 state appearance in the history of the program in section 3A. If that is the case New Ulm is very successful, and I don't hear any hatred towards that team. So clearly your reasoning that people hate them cause the ain't them is not correct.

I see we've inspired you to adjust your location to simply say not Luverne.....

You're the definition of a hater.

And yeah, I'd say that's irrational.

And I'm a fan of all 3A teams. I have a few teams I like a little more than others, but my bitterness towards Big Red resides with the parents and other relatives that make the team seem so unlikeable. The team has a lot of talent and is fun to watch, it's how the fans conduct themselves that makes it hard to support them.
