I would have to agree goldy is spot on. It's chirp after chirp about lord Setterholm, stremca pulling his goalie or Hutchinson not wanting to drive to luverne. Funny thing is when they get upset in sections this thread go's quiet..... It's happened 4 out of the last 5 years. It's time for the luverne faithful to learn respect for other teams win or lose.

I'll be more than willing to sit down at the local pub in Saint Peter with any of the Luverne folk and buy them a Schells light on Super Saturday. I have no problem explaining my thought process. But I do have a feeling more people see it the way I see it. I'm an outsider with no dog in the fight.

Your stance about the 15 year old not being offended by what he saw was accurate.

Do you think that stands for the adults that get ribbed on here?

Think Stremcha and Lord are overwhelmed by a few posts on here?

Cmon man, can't have it both ways.

Quit whining, that's whiner33's job.

Do you perhaps know he wasn't offended because he told you? Perhaps at the dinner table?

My crystal ball says:
1. With no up and comers to the varsity program, big kid will also see the writing on the wall and run away to juniors next year
2. The Luverne program will quietly slip back into the ranks of 3a next year without big kid, and their 15 minutes will expire. (Keep the thread alive though please!)

There are some big distances and low population numbers in SW MN. It makes sense to me why other sports are more popular. Kudos to the parents, coaches and kids out in 3a that keep hockey alive for the sheer love if the game.
No up and comers to the varsity program? Did you see the Luverne JV play against Marshall Tuesday night? There are plenty of up-and-comers in the Luverne program. The sophomore class alone is loaded: Harder, Kruse, and Beers are part of that class along with Nelson.

Nope, what we have in these forums is irrational hatred towards a successful program (by 3A standards). But then, I saw the same hate posts towards Roseau and Edina for the same reasons. In fact, when Roseau were ranked in the Top 10 of AA several years back, one child registered his moniker as "roseausucks" and proceeded to bash bash bash. You don't see that moniker anymore; perhaps he changed his moniker and is bashing Luverne these days.

Grow up people! This is high school sports!! High school. Most of these players will not extend their hockey careers beyond high school, so let's celebrate what they are doing within that context.

I seriously doubt that the Luverne program will quietly "slip back". In nearly all other sports Marshall beats Luverne consistently, but in ice hockey it is the reverse. I would rather see Marshall (and Worthington, Fairmont, Windom, etc.) raise their games to Luverne's level rather than see Luverne "slip back".
Irrational hatred? The Luverne folk are the ones consistently dogging people. Before Stremcha it was Lord, you can't expect other people to bow down when Luverne fans, players, and coaches are consistently rude. There is no doubt what they have done has been an accomplishment and great for 3A but at the end of the day they have 1 state appearance with these "stars" they have. If you want people to stop trash talking Luverne, show some respect to other teams, and wait for results before referring to your team being on their own level.

There is nothing successful about 1 state appearance in the history of the program in section 3A. If that is the case New Ulm is very successful, and I don't hear any hatred towards that team. So clearly your reasoning that people hate them cause the ain't them is not correct.

My team? Show me where I have said that Luverne is my team, GG. I have never said that Luverne is my team; in fact, I have lived in Willmar and Marshall and those are my teams. But, you see, I am an adult and can appreciate good effort mixed with talent.

State appearances are great but the true measure of a programs success might also be the talent being developed by the program. It sure seems like Luverne is getting more players into High Performance, Great 8, Elite league and juniors.
I sympathize with Teak being a Wilmar/Marshall fan, I've been a Cubs fan forever

Luverne has a few pretty good players in Bantams right now too. Along with the focus placed on the youth program is going to continue to build that program. It doesn't hurt that youth hockey numbers are growing by leaps and bounds in Sioux Falls. Those kids face a future of playing in the South Dakota league, going off to Tier 1, or relocating a few miles east to play in Luverne where you have the support of the MN Hockey system and can get recognized. I predict there will be more Sioux Falls families moving East which will only help the Luverne program.

Playoffs are upon us.

Tonight Windom hosts Fairmont.

Marshall hosts Morris

Willmar hosts Worthington.

Windom and Fairmont feature the 8 and 9 seed. Windom swept the regular season Match up. Both games were 2 goal games. If Fairmont finds a way to capitalize on their powerplay opportunities they might have a chance! They went 0-7 on the advantage in their most recent meeting. The winner of this game heads to the #1 seed Luverne on Thursday.

Marshall should walk Morris and will head to #2 LDC on Thursday.

Willmar should handle Worthington. They will then head to Hutchinson for a match with the #3 ranked tigers.

Good Luck everyone!

You're the definition of a hater.

And yeah, I'd say that's irrational.
Yeah.... The Gophers.. Duh
That would explain a LOT of your anger this year.

Duh?... are you 12?

Little late to the party there buddy. Maybe you can go back in the last 3A thread and attempt to stir the pot a little.

Willmar is rolling with a dozen goals against Worthington.

Marshall piled up Morris 10-0

Windom got past Fairmont 4-3.

Thursday night as follows.

Windom @ Luverne

Marshall @ LDC

Willmar @ Hutch

New Ulm @ RWV

Game of the night will be in Stremcha's house. He's got his birdgang rolling. If RWV wins on Thursday it will be their Thirteenth consecutive win. New Ulm coming in to the playoffs pretty flat with a 5-2 loss to the #11 seed out of Section 1A in Waseca. The first meeting between these two teams was back on DEC 8. New Ulm put a run time score on RWV to the tune of 8-1. The second match was an overtime loss for the Eagles. I predict RWV in a rout.

I anticipate LDC to dismantle the tigers.

Willmar will give Hutch more than they want, however, Hutch will win @ home. Kobiena is flying right now. If Revier is hot WATCH OUT.

Luverne will move past Windom @ BMIA, regardless of the zamboni health.

Goldy will be in attendance at the Redwood Falls Community ice arena as this has the makings for the most entertaining game. I like your predictions but in sections who knows. Sure would love the forum starting Thursday night if STREMCHA'S gang won and there was a rematch with the Red Army.
