Roseau is not strong but on home ice will be okay.Syd Barrett wrote:Who you trying to kid? Not sure what Roseau has but the drop off is pretty steep after Moorhead & Bemidji.elliott70 wrote:But should be very competitive season in 8AA
Brainerd is better than you give them credit.
St Mikeys will be good.
Top two will be tough to beat in back to back games to go to state.
1. Moorhead
2. Bemidji
3. St Cloud
4. St Mikes
5. Rogers
6. Brainerd
7. Roseau
8. Buffalo

The Wizard will need a generous portion of Faery Dust to go with his Smoke & Mirrors to get this young team above .500elliott70 wrote: Brainerd is better than you give them credit.

I see he added Sarsland to his staff, he's kind of cut from the same cloth as Archie. I wonder if he got that move approve by the powers that be

All of this. I was at the game. Very much a battle of wills. Nothing was easy for either side anywhere on the ice. Moorhead did have the edge in play by a bit........but this was not a 4-1 game by any stretch. It was a 2-1 grinder that could have gone either way.........and Pollack........and in Spudville.elliott70 wrote:Well, it was 1-1 with under 3 minutes.
Moorhead scored on a breakaway via a great pass with under 2.
2 empty betters.
Bemidji without top player, don't know Moorhead injuries.....
But should be very competitive season in 8AA
Spuds had a senior captain sitting out but Pollack being out is far more of an impact.
SPUDNUT - tell us more ... is the lumberjacks reign over this early in the season?[/quote]GoldenBear69 wrote:Otherwise !SPUDNUT wrote:[quote="Section 8 guy"The section is still Bemidjis until someone proves otherwise.
Maybe, but not etched in stone - don't think they'll go away quietly or soon. Very good game - both worked hard. Late in 3rd was starting to wonder who was gonna win it 1-0 in O/T ! We'll see what happens on Feb 14 in BJI.

Did not say 'not good', but 'weak'.Green and White Fan wrote:I think, especially in the second half, teams are not going to want to play Roseau. Several youngsters that will only get better and team speed like they haven't had in years. Elliot can say they are not good but he may eat those words by year end.
They are young and right now, not disciplined.
You cannot play undisciplined against Moorhead.

Roseau isn't to bad. TRF's goalie stole a win from them, Roseau dominated most of the game.
Lack of discipline/youth hurt them in the third too.
An overall weak d corps is Roseau's main weakness.
But they shouldn't be wrote off by any means.

they have also had a few guys out nursing some health issues, should be more complete in the upcoming week or two.zamboniexhaustinhaler wrote:Green and White Fan wrote:I think, especially in the second half, teams are not going to want to play Roseau. not sure if I'd call their D corps week, they have three returning varsity starters and some sophs with pretty good resumes, I'd say its more the Roseau style of play, its much more risk / reward than most teams and when its not gelling can look a bit ugly.
With G&W fan on this...should be a tough second half team

I would think this would be a very good game.Goldy Gopher wrote:How does St. Cloud handle Alex tonight? Goldy and Mrs. Goldy are thinking about making the trek up 94.
Both teams have put up big numbers against sub-par competition in 2 games for Alex and 1 for St Cloud.
Tonight we will see if they can play D.
Both should be competitive in their sections.

Move Buffalo out.

The U invented swagger.

Yeah, the youth program has numbers this year, around 370 at last count. My daughter's 8U girls team has 28 girls out and my son's 6 year old mite team has 18 boys on it. This is our family's first year in the program and they do have a very well run and organized youth program, at least what I have seen.black sheep wrote:Alex may be the best team in Central Lakes conference. Would be interesting to see Alexandria at the AA level. They already play some of the 8AA teams during the regular season.
