what teams will win each section
Gotta disagree NP
I don't think Jefferson or Ep get to the section finals this year. Toooo even in section 6. Edina will have a good team, Chaska may figure it out, Minnetonka will romp through the Lake and Benilde will beat one in the first round.

sections
Crack69, you have got to be kidding me!!!! Section 2A will not be taken by SR or DD!! It is going to come down to SCC or DM AGAIN, LIKE ALWAYS!!!! Can you please stop pretending like you know somthing about this section, or any of the other sections for that matter!

Re: sections
Crabs, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Duluth Denfeld, Have you taken a look at thier roster lately ? My money is on them to come out of 2A. You may look even more "foolish" at the end of the season.. by the way ..I am not from nor am I a great "fan" of DD but I know of some of the players from DD, and believe me when I tell you they are a highly skilled team...even though Bordson was lost to DM, he may regret his decision in the future...

crack you must be on crack saying EGF will win section 8a. It will be TRF or Woroad

7a
are you crazy? Greenway over Ifalls in 7A? both of those teams were horrible last year and greenways good goalie came over to virginia. sorry to say but Virginia is taking 7A this year. Hibbing lost their 1st line, which carried them everywhere

greenway goalie
Yes Greenways best & only high school goalie may have left but there is an eight grader that is better than the senior that went to Virginia. It is just a matter of if Greenway decides to bring the eigth grader up if they have to or let him play another year of bantams.

Re: greenway goalie
Boy, if they don't have to bring the young goalie up, they should keep him at Bantams to allow further, more beneficial, development. More games at Bantams, but more speed at high school...that could bring confidence down for the young guy. But, small teams do what they need to do. If they do bring him up, hopefully the team will be supportive....cuz they are going to need him for the next 5 years. Tough call.

Hibbing is going to win the section again. Greenway?...come on get serious now. They were horrible last year and didnt inprove at all. Virginia?...better than greenway but still not going to win. They have sachetti and thats it. Hibbing is so deep they will walk right over both of them. They can run 4 lines this year with #1 not being much differnet than #4. They have great speed, and this group has been playing with each other for 3-4 years. They have a good bantam coming up on D to help anchor the defenseman who already have 2 strong D coming back. Their goalies will play well cuz they are abotu even and will work hard to beat the other out. Hibbing takes the section over hermantown 4-2 in the finals. Hibbing will be equally as strong if not better next year. Hibbing takes the next two sections too make it 4-5 in a row. Go bluejackets!

6AA Wide Open
I can see why Jefferson would get the nod - especially if they get some help at "D" with a transfer.

However, they are not close to the "lock" that they were last year.

This may be one of the more competitive sections. Edina and Eden Praire will be among the top 5 again - but both Chaska and Minnnetonka should be much improved.

Once again - Goaltending is key. That's why you can't count out Benilde. They may have the best goalie in the section.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... >Bart82 at: 9/1/05 5:52 pm

Re: aa section champions
Crack69, U musta been stoned when u said Greenway over falls in 4 OT. Neither of those teams will even make it to the section semis. Virginia, Silver Bay, Hibbing, Hermantown all in semi, Virginia over Hermantown or Hibbing in Section Championship in a close ghame for Section 7A. Goalie man are u crazy? Hibbings not even gonna have a goalie, and they will b better than Hibbing Ill put money on us defending the section. Just like last year everyone said Niskys all we had but we won that game with him only gettin 1 point!

Virginia HS- Defending Section 7A champs

jaskowiak
just for the record... nick jaskowiak is back at Jefferson and will be playing for them this winter. With him on the team I have no doubt that they will win section 6AA, but EP may give them a run for their money.

hibbing
Hibbing is going to have a good goalie this year. Marchuk has been a select all the way up and had to play behing a good goalie last year as a sophomore. Sandstrom is not bad either. They will both work hard and the competition will be great for the both of them to make each other work extra hard. Ha id like to put money on the series with ya but i dont want to take your money. Virginia might have a better record at the end of the year, but thats only cuz of their schedule. Do u ever wonder why hibbing is always right there at the end of the season with not a very good record? Its cuz we play a double A schedule. Id like to see what Virginia's record would be if they played Hibbing's schedule. I guarentee they wouldnt be 20-4 again. Hibbing will have a goalie by mid season. I guarentee it.

Section 7a champs 03 and 04
State consolation champs 03
State 3rd place 04

?
You all who think Crack69 doesnt know this section u have another thing coming Hes been following this Section for 6 years now and has seen alot of games. So I believe when he says that SR and DD Are the Fav this year he knows what he is talkin bout. He never did say that DM SCC couldnt take the Section but SR and DD are the Only two teams that are Returning all their Key players. DM is a strong team agian and the section is gna be tough My Section Ranks as now top 5 teams are
1. Sauk Rapids
2. Duluth Denfeld
3. Duluth Marshall
4. Mora
5. Princeton

Cathedral lost to many players last year to contend as a deep threat. Sauk Rapids is Deep in depth by positions and expierence. The Storm of this year Resembles I think the Storm of 2000 when they beat up some top notch teams Liek Hermantown 6-1 in The Final. That year people were sayin the same thing as they are this year, Defense is the Question well Defense is better than last year and Lochner is much better and Quicker than ever before.

hockey3. nick skating with gordy's kid on d should be solid this year, however, not on the level the d was last year with connelly gone. chaska is hungry and waiting in wings to prove themselves. will durability remain intact for the hawks thru the season? ep may be a darkhorse in the mix. they may meet jefferson at mariucci for an encore.

Re: Blowjo
SR has to get beyond their mental/emotional play. I agree they have a team that should be competitive this year, but they have to mature emotionally, which arguably hasn't occurred. To compete for the top spot in this section, or any section, you have to have the mental strength. It is probably one of the biggest differences between their state team of 2000 and this year's team. In the end, that will hurt them.

Re: Blowjo
puck89. nice post...i'm in agreement regarding emotional maturity. does mental strength magically occur overnight...doubtful. then, how is that important component realized...better yet how does it come to fruition for any given team? who drives it? the captains, the coaches or the players? can you sprinkler a (varsity) team with talented freshman and sophomores and expect them to, in addition to scoring goals etc., rise to level of mental maturity displayed by the juniors and seniors? or is it not about the year of the skater...rather than the coaptation of the teammates as one?

Re: Blowjo
NP you are correct. Many times people think the mental strength is only with the older skaters, and many times that is true, but not always the case. Mental strength is not a tangible thing to kids...and to many adults...because like you said, what is envisioned when we speak of it and how do you attain it? The most successful athletes are those that are able to find it, share it and use it. It is the epitome of "team", and you are right...that is a good place to find it...and if you do find it there, consider yourself one of the lucky.

Re: what teams will win each section
I have to agree with hillhockey, Jefferson with the 6AA section all the way, they have so good returning forwards this year including Levine who could make a case to be one of the best upcoming players this year in the stae and they also have Jaskowiak transferring from benilde to play at jefferson and they have a lakeville transfer as well.......EP is good but in the end it jefferson

Re: what teams will win each section
jman...why did the red knight transfer to the blues? you may be accurate...jefferson may be the team in 6aa to beat. include skater like addyman and roberts to round things out.

Re: hibbing
I agree with you goalieman on hibbing next year. Marchuk did not play varsity last year, but is still a solid goalie. Marchuk has been working hard this fall, and he should be the one to keep hibbing in tough games this year. Sandstrom is the other goalie. He has a lot of skill too. You can look at these two battling for the starting job which will make both of them good goalies.
