Tufte/Noterman
Wanted to revisit this topic with Noterman making his Gopher debut tonight on if he has a higher upside than Tufte. Was widely ridiculed in thinking that Noterman could have more potential in the long term. Tufte with 0 pts in 14 games and Noterman getting his shot tonight. Thoughts?

He has been on the 3rd line with guys that aren't super skilled, so that has been a factor. He just looks slow out there. Not having any real USHL experience, he is trying to adjust to the speed of college hockey. The Dogs have a lot of talent at forward, so it will be tough for him to break into the top 6 this year.WestMetro wrote:AlCloseShaver, as long as you started the thread.....
Anyone been following Tufte at UMD who could offer thoughts on his lack of production so far? Nagging injury from early in the season?

Thanks Rainier, very interesting
He had the before and after time at Fargo and then played in DaBeauty League this summer, so he seemed to be set up for a decent start to his first year. Then he had the injury , can't help but wonder if he still isn't 100 pc
And sounds like he could have used Nick Swaney with him on that 3rd line, I still don't understand that one

Avery Peterson recently became eligible to play for the Dogs, so I imagine he will work his way to that third line with Tutfe and Jared Thomas, which could be a boost for Tufte's stats. But I think Thomas and Peterson are both centers, so perhaps Sandelin will want them on different lines. We'll see.WestMetro wrote:Thanks Rainier, very interesting

Nice to see all the former northern MN HS stars on UMD, with some Mr. Hockeys and NDTP players too. East, Hibbing, Hermantown, GR, and Cloquet all represented. Wished they could have landed Hain and/or McLaughlin.
