Lets Play Hockey will be streaming the HF/GR game

There is some conflicting info about the start time of that game. The HF website shows it at 7.30, and so does the Hub, so assuming 7.30 is correct.

Thank you.

If you would, watch #22 and tell me how good (or not) he is.

Split screens watching two games at once:

Duluth East 7, Hopkins 0, Final. East was up 4-0 after 1 and in cruise control from there, no problems. No Worth or LaMaster for the Hounds. Worth should be back vs. Minnetonka tomorrow; LaMaster should be good to go by the Rapids game next week.

Grand Rapids 3, Holy Family 2 after 2...the Family is better 5 on 5, but GR has 2 PPGs and a shorty. Polite advice to Thunderhawk opponents: you might want to stay out of the box, and not take anything for granted when you go on the man advantage. Very open game with a lot of shots.

Holy Family 4-3 in OT over the Injuns. Holy Family with 52 shots on goal. Fun game to watch. The Fire deserved the win. Stejskal with a great effort in net.

Holy Family 4, Grand Rapids 3, Final-OT. Shots 52-31 Fire.

The Fire slowly took over as this game went on, though Rapids had chances here and there, since they don't need much. HF's finishing is still their Achilles' Heel, but their depth and speed were pretty impressive as this one wore on.

Rapids was line juggling as this one went on, as Hain-McLaughlin-Miller started out separate and were reunited in the middle of the 3rd. It didn't seem to make a huge difference either way. Rapids looks the same every time I see them: ridiculous flashes by the big guns, and everyone else is decidedly okay. Incredible talent, but...I don't know, I still struggle to see them pulling together 5 straight wins against good competition in the playoffs. Championship teams need to be more than a one-trick pony.

I sound like a downer, though. Very fun, back and forth game between two quality teams.

Heh...yes, unfortunately, I did. But even those East teams had 7-10 D-I players, even if the others weren't amassing big points...this Rapids team can't go quite that deep.

Seven D1 players from MN back then might not be all that different than 5-6 D1 players now. Especially when it's three forwards, a defenseman, and at least one of the goalies.

Was at the game too between HF and GR. Very fun game to watch with teams trading goals. You're right on top of the action at HF's rink, so you get a good sense of the speed, especially with HF. HF had many breakaway chances and could have won by a wider margin if not for Stejskal. Also spotted Don Lucia up on the track above the rink watching the Gopher recruits.

Looking at the numbers, not really. There were actually more teams with 7+ D-I players in the first half of this decade than there were in the 90s. Maybe this season's a little different since Edina's not quite what it was a couple of years ago, but it's more common than you'd think. Hell, Rapids' team last year will likely end up with 7+ before all is said and done, and it was a very good team, but I don't think anyone would rank it among the all-time greats.

Yes one of the funnest games of the year to watch

Two top ten teams putting it all on the rink end to end every shift with Don Lucia watching above from the overhead running track

Overflow crowd at the "close to the action" Victoria East ice arena

Two more good games out there in February: Delano and Stillwater
