Elliott - it would be good to see what reasoning you have for each team and where you placed them. Some interesting rankings of a few teams.

I would but they are not my rankings, I stole them.

I plan on posting my own but my boss is making me do a little work today.

My rankings: (in progress)
1 Hermantown
Is there any question.... no.

2 Breck
They have the coaching...

3 Delano
They have one of the best top lines, but I think the two teams above are capable of stopping them. Unfortunately only one team from 2A.

4 East Grand Forks
It seems they have filled the holes and the coaches know how to use the talent they have.

5 St. Paul Academy
Solid team...
Can beat anyone (except Hermantown).

6 Mahtomedi
Thought they would be the team prior to the season, but hey have struggled a bit, but think they are still in the running. We will see tonight.

7 St Paul Johnson
Not overly impressive schedule but have done what they are supposed to do and no one to prove them wrong.

8 Sartell
A couple of bad games but against pretty good teams.
Beat up on Monticello twice and beat Alexandria.

9 St Cloud Cathedral
Played SPA tough and are on par with Sartell.

10 Alexandria
Have played very well at times.

11 Minnehaha
Good team with no real test games.

12. Hibbing
Will not beat Hermantown, but play the rest of A very tough.

13. Greenway
Losing a very good player hurts but they are very solid at least with first 6 guys on the ice. Thursday's game with Intl Falls should e interesting.

14. Orono
Not sure about them they play Breck and Delano tough but took OT to beat MoundWT and some other games are ??

15. Blake
I am not sure what they are missing but lack something to make them a contender

16. Minneapolis.
Nice to have a team with a Minneapolis name on the list...
remember the days of old...

7 ORONO 2A
10 BLAKE 2A

12 MINNEHAHA ACADEMY 4A
13 HIBBING 7A
14 ALEXANDRIA 6A
15 MINNEAPOLIS 2A
16 GREENWAY 7A

Elliott, what is your take on the squad from Baudette? A gaudy 8-3-0 record but a Section 3A type schedule so far. Already beat their win total from last year when they went 7-17-1.

Only games on their horizon that will test them are EGF, Northern Lakes, Wadena, Crookston, and Warroad and some of those are questionable as LotW has a higher QRF.

Johnson's still probably too high in this list... For now.

Yes, they're 5-0-1 against AA, but 3 of those were against middle of the road teams (NSP, Woodbury, Eagan), and 3 weren't so hot (RJM, AHA, Hopkins). But, you play whoever's on the other side of the red line, and they're winning most of them, I guess.

We'll see where they stand in a week and a half weeks when they have to face SPA, Minneapolis (their only loss), and Minnehaha Academy all in a row. If they get through that, then they would rightfully earn the #8 spot.

6th seed

Depending on how they do with Detroit Lakes, Crookston and Warroad in their upcoming games.

3 losses to 3 below average teams, no quality wins (I hate that word, but they have not beat any MN teams with a winning record - combined 17-51-4).

Woodbury is a good win, they are 10-4 overall, just beat White Bear. Johnson is a sneaky pick with a group of middling A teams in that range.

4A is going to be very interesting with 4 - 5 teams capable.

Bronco Arena has been Greenway's house of horrors. Easily the most difficult place for Greenway to win. Their great '87 team that averaged almost 6 goals a game was shut out there. Very nervous about that game. A loss there would eliminate a #2 seed.

And IFalls is on a current roll.
I think this will be a fun one.

I only went to 16.

Hard to argue Luverne is in the top 16.

No, I was referring to your top 25 at the top of this thread. No 3A schools in that group of 25. Not sure which 16 you are referring to. I am not suggesting that you put any 3A schools up there, just supporting your astute observations.

The one at the top is not mine. Stolen.

My top 16 follow later.
I may have had Luverne at 25 but did not have the time to get that far.

Agreed. I'm glad to see Minneapolis doing well. Lots of great history. I know some of the former players from years back are working hard and pulling for them.
I am too.
