Delano line of Halonen, Meyers, Keranan

These kids have been playing together forever and they play that way. Ben Meyers leads the team with 23 points though 4 games (on pace for the state record), which is (111), Keranan has 13 points, and Halonen leads the team with 8 goals.

This group of players have performed at every level throughout the fall/summer schedule of Elite Leagues versus AA opponents, and they shined.

At this point in the season, not having seen every team play, they are sure fire, top first line, any team would love and have. Three Division 1 players playing together on the same line. The maroon and gold overlook Class A teams, year-in-year-out.

State record is 135 (Hanowski in 2009). Jaxon Nelson had 124 last year. Meyers is still on a record pace though, but I doubt he maintains for the whole year. That whole line is going to have a monster year. Still doubt anyone can unseat Mittelstadt for Mr. Hockey, especially anyone from Class A.

The MSHSL should update records some time, the all-Time points leader if shows is Scott Lecy with 111 from Rochester JM.

I agree with you on unseating Casey from Mr Hockey, different classes. If Meyers can put up some legitimate numbers versus Holy Family, Wayzata and maybe Hermantown in a few weeks, he could be a real Mr. Hockey candidate.

I have seen Delano play this year and yes great line. And as noted, will be interested to see them play later games this year against worthy opponents. Let's stop the Mr. Hockey debate by looking at Ben Meyer's USHL fall vs Middelstadts and who are casting the votes. Both great players don't get me wrong GB

Meyers is a great player and always has been. Of course he will be in the Mr. Hockey discussion. Not picked for awhile and things can happen (injury?) so let's not anoint anyone just yet. CM obviously front runner as of now. I think Delano is a great story. This has been a very good group since they were young, and they have stayed together. Compare to 2 other "smaller" programs - Rosemount and Farmington. Great PeeWee teams 6 years ago who didn't manage to keep the core together. Much easier for the big programs obviously to absorb the defections. I'm curious if there is a driving force behind this Delano group that would translate to continued success in the future after this group leaves? Or is it just a strong group that has driven themselves? Agree they have one of the top lines in the state. Will know more how the TEAM looks after Holy Family, Wayzata...

No doubt this line a a very good A line. I was at HF game. Even against HF third line they didn't do much at all, just a fact.

I've never seen them play, so you may be right, but I wonder if HF's third line has two D1 recruits plus a 3rd who is probable? Or maybe in the game you saw they just had an off game?

Whatever, nice story by Reusse, and good to see a community where hockey is growing and getting better, instead of going in the other direction as too many are.

You made my point, No, HF 3rd line doesn't have two D1 recruits but they out played that line. I've seen Delano play 5 times, they are very good Class A hockey line. If they played a good AA schedule they would be average. (Even though they have 2 D1 recruits)

Are you really going to continue to degrade a couple of home grown and developed kids from a town of 5,000, so you can make yourself feel better about your kid playing 3rd line after choosing to follow the talent on the cow path headed west? And, yes, even when the 3rd line is one the ice, they are probably backed by a couple kids that will play D1. Holy Family is going OK this year, even without you knocking down a few sod farmers kids to make you feel better about writing your tuition payment.

The Delano line is obviously very good. Going to fun to watch them as their careers continue to college. GR has a line that is in the same boat.

In my opinion, the best line of all time was Broten, Broten, and Erickson.
