Duluth East at Cloquet

Post by kniven »

Ah yes. I love putting this topic up each year. This game will on my9 on the tv and ifan video stream on the internet. Esse vs. Randolph. Hounds vs. Lumberjacks. Purple vs. black. Duluth vs. Cloquet. Computer dads vs. the geek squad. Gordys vs. the malt shop. 2 awesome AA programs in the north. I sure hope the purple can pull this one out. There is nothing in the world (sports) that is better for me. Much respect for Duluth East hockey for sure!!

The only thing which matters here is Pedros vs. Mexico Lindo. Good thing they don't play the game in a Mexican restaurant because Cloquet would win easily :)

(btw, A&Dubs > Gordy's)

I don't think it will happen, but if the Jacks take the Hounds, the THawks will probably jump to 2nd and Duluth East will fall to 3rd.

Not a big deal but taking last change away from Randolph will aid in GR getting to the finals.

Nothing against ER Elks but I would like to see GR at state and I think they can beat the Elks. The Hounds cannot, not this year, even with the great Randolph (easily the 5th or 6th greatest HS coach of all time.

You're seeming to forget the miracle East team from a couple years ago who were a 3rd seed and made it to the state championship.

That team had no talent, but Randolph made it work. The team this year is a lot more talented than that one.

Never (ever) count them out.

That's true, but I never say never.

So I am thinking ER - GR in the finals and GR vs someone for the championship of the state.

Of course I just jinxed them so go Hounds!

You lost everyone with the crowd estimate stuff Slammy and that East team had some talent. Time to regroup.

East wins 5-1. The game was fairly similar to the first meeting between these two, with the Hounds in pretty thorough control throughout. I do have to say, though: even when the outcome of the game looks pretty clear, this is always one of the most enjoyable games to take in as a fan of high school hockey, with a packed Lumberdome and two huge student sections just going at it all night long. The atmosphere for this rivalry is excellent, even when the game isn't. Always a fun night.

Yes Karl. Always nice to see you in Cloquet The boys in purple still preparing for their playoff run. I am confident Esse and his staff will have the boys ready. Moorehead coming to Cloquet on Friday. Congratulations to East on the win tonight. I'll be posting some video later on that atmosphere Karl East is talking about. Duluth East in Cloquet hard to beat state wide for atmosphere....

Sights and sounds from this game. What an atmosphere for high school hockey between these 2 teams.
