Perhaps the most interesting section in total.
Everyone has a winning record.
Just about everybody has beat someone ranked higher.

Seeding will be interesting. Games unpredictable.

I don't like the fact that St. Mike's is going to get a high seed when they only play the Big 4 in the section (this year) once each. Moorhead, Bemidji, Brainerd and Roseau beat up on each other and end up getting hurt at seeding time. St. Mike's could easily have 2 or 3 more section losses if they played those teams twice. Moorhead has won 63% of the their section games, St. Mike's 57%, Bemidji 60% and Roseau 67%.

Mikey's have a good team, but I agree.

Move Alex and EGF into 8AA and throw St Mikes and Buffalo out...
Who can we get for Rogers? (Little Falls needs to get a bit better or do we take St Cloud Cathedral???)

Who knows how it will go today. If the entire season matters as regards to section play, it should go:

1. Moorhead
2. Roseau
3. Bemidji
4. St. Mikes
5. Brainerd
6. Buffalo
7. Rogers
8. St. Cloud

It will probably be:

Moorhead
St. Mikes
Roseau
Bemidji
Brainerd
Buffalo
Rogers
St. Cloud

If the entire season doesn't matter, then I can see Bemidji at 3 and Roseau at 4.

It will be interesting.

And QRF which is not so good but better toward the end of the year:

So despite Bemidji beating both Roseau and St. Miles within the past few weeks you put them behind both of them? And St. Cloud who just beat Rogers on Saturday is still behind them? Roseau homer.

Here's how I see it

1. Moorhead: they beat everyone in the section, pretty obvious why they're here
2. Bemidji: beat both Roseau and St. Mikes within the past few weeks. Don't have any "bad" section loses. They've played a tougher schedule IMO and have been better than everyone below them lately. They're only blemish in section play are their 2 OT losses to Brainerd.
3. St. Mikes: Since they don't play many section games they're a tough team to project. They tied Moorhead (but got heavily outshot) and lost to Bemidji. So they sit behind both of them. They have a win over Roseau and that's about it.
4. Roseau: Started off the year red hot, but have come crashing down to earth in the past month. Got throttled by Moorhead. Theyve lost to everyone above them recently. All of their section wins came early.
5. Brainerd: They've got wins over Bemidji and a split with Moorhead, with the loss being the more game. They're lack of a game against St. Mikes likely hurt them.
6. Buffalo: They've got a good win over St. Mikes, and have beat the two teams below them at least once.
7. St. Cloud: Have a good tie with Brainerd, and just beat Rogers.
8. Rogers: They did beat Buffalo recently, but didn't make any other noise.

I have never heard of in any sport that the only games that count for standings are the last few and a good loss or a bad loss is still a loss and a good win or a bad win is still just a win.

While that's true there is a difference between standings and seedings.

There is such a thing as a "bad loss" yes in the end it's still just a loss, but let's just say theoretically if you're betting on a game between say Bemidji and Roseau and they only have one common opponent, for example let's say it's Moorhead. And Bemidji lost to Moorhead 2-1 and Roseau loses 5-0, who are you gonna bet on to win? Probably Bemidji. That's the only point I'm making there.

And I'm not saying only the games at the end count, but when most of the teams in the 2-5 conversation have all split with each other, I'm going to take the more recent result. Which is the case here. Everyone beat up on everyone in this section, so seeding will be difficult, but if you ask me it's who has played better down the stretch then. Because realistically 2-5 could get seeded a million different ways.

Not sure about "Roseau Homer". Just doing the math on percent of games won compared to games played in the section. If games during the first half of the season have no meaning, then no reason in playing them. If that is the case, then everyone should schedule 7 section games, their last 7 games of the year and let the chips fall where they may. My seedings are based on straight percentage of games won in the section as this is a section seeding.

Just a question ... this would apply to any Section ... should games played vs. section opponents in addition to their regular home & home factor into the equation? (I.e. - Holiday tournament games)

Obviously just my opinion, but I would think only factoring actual section games. Quarter and Semis are at the higher seed.

where ? MSHL shows last year for 8AA while all others are clear. They actually have a note saying "coach vote 1-17" so looks like it won't be out until friday

Pretty sure it is today as that is what the state high school site says and it has been Wednesday for years.
It is not a meeting but a fax in your vote.
In the past it has been done by noon.
