I'd post a couple suggestions, but I'd rather try to change Kellyanne Conway's mind on something. Bout the same chance.
Damn, this stuff is good.

Could also be that Denfeld is just not that good, being 4-21 and victims of blowouts to many other teams much less talented than GR like Sheyboygan and Red Wing (WHO?)TheHockeyDJ wrote:Rapids win tonight is also indicitive of a team recovered from the flu and not puking your guts out anymore. You can't go on a high school hockey board without "Meeehhhhh Trump! Man, you must be a democrat." Give it a rest, will ya. Or take the politics to Facebook or Twitter, where a lot of the world's imperfections are being worked on and solved as we speak. Let me save you the effort of responding "If you don't like it, you can git out!"Houndhockey wrote:I forgot that Randolph gets the only vote in how section 7AA will be seeded. Amsoil being in Duluth is definitely an advantage, but I'm not sure that advantage is big enough to determine the outcome of games.
You're assuming Rapids is going to beat Andover in the Quarters, a team the Hawks could only manage to tie during the regular season.mnmouth wrote:The whining on this thread has now reached the dubious, epic proportions of a Trump press conference or rally. Isn't it about time that the whining about where the 7AA semis and final games are played is relegated to a separate thread, just like the Hermantown playing in Class A thread? For us Northern hockey fans, this is the best outcome. Cloquet had zero chance of beating Elk River and an East-Rapids game would have knocked out one of the only two teams in 7AA capable of beating the Elks. Now Elkville likely has to go through both those teams to reach State. And - boo hoo - they have to travel north, likely in luxury on a charter bus to an arena that has no 'peer' in the Section, as kids, the most adaptable, flexible, highly recuperative human beings on Earth. And hopefully they lose.
From a guy with no skin in the game. I think it is pretty ridiculous that Cloquet got the #3 seed over Rapids. Makes no sense to me.Bayside Tigers wrote:You can't go on a high school hockey board without "Meeehhhhh Trump! Man, you must be a democrat." Give it a rest, will ya. When that home ice advantage is in football, 3 points, what is it in hockey? 1 goal? A half goal? How many 1 goal playoff games has Duluth won at the DECC? Which is a vague question, so let's just say within the last 10 or so years. I don't have all the stats, but I'm guessing a study would reveal, on paper, that their success coincides with home ice advantage. Lee, I want to see a detailed report posted. Please include separately the games won where they were a lower seed. And also each team's Let's Play Hockey season final top 20 ranking, just for fun.
I personally wouldn't waste too much time thinking about the section seeds, but is it not always something? Again, I'm an idiot with no statistics, but my (bad) memory tells me that more years than not, this time of year, Duluth is doing some explaining and justifying. Lee, I need a report. Please look into the other 7 sections in the state. Of them, how many times do you see or hear about seeding controversy? Is this frequent all over the state? Or something that looms around the trenches of 7AA? Does it possibly vary?
Let's hear less opinions, and more statistics. I see:
GR an overall record of 17-7-1. Key wins over Esko, WBL, and the state's top 2 teams Cake Eaters and the Cake Eaters.
Esko with a record of 15-8-2, with 1 key win over GR.
What are each team's section records? I'm also reading conflicting reports about GR's horrific drop off at the end of the season (3 game losing streak), but that the team was also flu-stricken during this period.
So what, more clearly, statistically gives Esko the 3 seed? Is it based solely on overall section record?
I'm also assuming that Cloquet will beat Marshall in the Quarters. No easy task.sanryam wrote:You're assuming Rapids is going to beat Andover in the Quarters, a team the Hawks could only manage to tie during the regular season.mnmouth wrote:The whining on this thread has now reached the dubious, epic proportions of a Trump press conference or rally. Bingo. Probably the biggest factor and why it will never be moved. If it was played anywhere else they couldn't sell the TV rights because they couldn't get an audience for it.greenwayraider wrote:One other factor in keeping it at Amsoil is money. Aside from bigger crowds, a Duluth television station broadcasts both the A and AA final. When have you ever known the MSHSL to turn down money?
Another factor is you can't beat the overall experience of going to a game at Amsoil Arena and being in Duluth with Lake Superior and Canal Park. A couple years ago stadiumjourney.com ranked Amsoil Arena the #1 sports experience for college or pros in all of North America. I have traveled to Wild games more than once through California and Arizona, been to Vikings games in Seattle and Cleveland, and going to games at Amsoil Arena ranks #1 w/o question. The Honda Center in Anaheim is a nice building, but outside the arena there is nothing nearby. Just one small pub across the street but that is it. With Amsoil Arena, you get Duluth's version of St. Paul's W 7th Street and the option of using the skyway system if it's below 0 and having a lot of options for dining and entertainment. In Minnesota we are very spoiled with awesome venues and in great settings. If you don't realize that, just travel and you'll come back and truly appreciate what you have in your backyard.Jeffy95 wrote:Bingo. Probably the biggest factor and why it will never be moved. As a Duluth resident, I don't understand this st all. Amsoil is a pretty ugly arena, especially with the randomly colored seats. And definitely not even close to being the best stadium in college sports or pros (what the heck)TheHockeyDJ wrote:Another factor is you can't beat the overall experience of going to a game at Amsoil Arena and being in Duluth with Lake Superior and Canal Park. I agree. I believe GR earned the 4 seed. I also believe Amsoil is the best place for the semi and final. (And my team has lost some tough ones there)Traxler wrote:After Rapids lost to Cloquet the 7AA thread included many predictions that the result would be a 4 seed for Rapids. See above, i.e. Telelevision rights = Money for MSHSL. It will never happen.norcon wrote:The last number of years for semi-final Sat, the environment at Amsoil has been very stale and boring. Attendance has not been that good either. Being from Rapids, I would have no issue with having to drive over to St. Cloud, Bemidji or even Mariucci for sections. Rapids fans will follow their team wherever they play, which isn't the case for most of the teams in the section. It's time for a change...no more home ice advantage for East!
I think he was referencing the Canal Park experience more than anything. Outsiders are in love with that place. It's kind of funny because those of us that live here only go down there when we have to.Slammer wrote:As a Duluth resident, I don't understand this st all. I laughed when I read this and then I realized how much sense it made. It wouldn't fly though. East would argue that they can't take kids out of school if they don't have to. Academics first.silentbutdeadly3139 wrote:Easy solution : Should East be in finals against southern sec team, on the day of the game they have to ride a bus half way to their opponents school then return to Duluth.
