I guess good night for themGreen and White Fan wrote:Moorhead has been known to show no mercy in their first round games. If Rogers keeps it within 7, it will be a good night for them!

Oh boy - here we go again. Every year there hasta be one with an excuse why their team couldn't score.itsjusthockey7742 wrote:I guess good night for themGreen and White Fan wrote:Moorhead has been known to show no mercy in their first round games. Rogers mucked it up scrambling to keep scoreless in first when refs, I guess thinks its too close, calls brutal 5 minute major for a little more than pinning someone against the boards, happens all the time, happened 20 seconds before to rogers player. Then skirmish in front of the net results in punches thrown, 2 players from Moorehead punching 1 player from rogers. Rogers player get double minor, 1 player from Moorehead get minor, not both Moorhead players. Moorehead pulls away. Moorehead is the better team but sucks for the kids kids battling to keep up with very good team to get that crap called.

I typically don't post to the "forum" as there are plenty of experts out there. Our son was the Tender for Rogers. I would say (anyone at the game would agree) early both teams had chances and the score does not reflect the effort between the pipes for Rogers. To include the team as it's a team sport. Moorhead has plenty of scoring ability and once they caught their stride last night it became quickly apparent that the better team put up the winning score! Kudos to Moorhead Hockey as they always seem to be in the mix when it counts!!!

Sorry thought I made it clear better team won, and not saying that was reason Rogers didn't score. Maybe should have just let it go but those were some brutal calls and tough for kids working hard.SPUDNUT wrote:Oh boy - here we go again. Good luck the rest of the way.

I don't think it reflects the effort of ANYONE for Rogers.jhpreus123 wrote:I typically don't post to the "forum" as there are plenty of experts out there. Our son was the Tender for Rogers. Sorry if any offense was taken from my post. ABSOLUTELY none was intended towards anyone. I don't like anybody using the officiating as an excuse for losing. We all differ on some calls, but they can't see everything and I doubt that any of us could do a better job.jhpreus123 wrote:I typically don't post to the "forum" as there are plenty of experts out there. I recall saying to someone late in the scoreless 1st period "That goalie is like a magnet", after noticing he almost always had good position & didn't give up a lot of rebounds. I think he was the bright spot for a team that couldn't give him much support because of a lack of puck control and a very porous defense.

For what it's worth.......I had a very good angle on the hit where the major was called. My mind immediately said 5 when I saw the hit. It wasn't a no brainer I don't think.....but it wasn't a bad call. The guy sitting behind me who I don't know at all also said out loud...."oh.....get up"...about the player that got hit, concerned he was injured. (He wasn't).
I think the issue with the scuffle was who started it, but I can see your point. The Rogers player initiated the extra curriculars and I'm guessing that's why he got the extra 2:00 after a lot of discussion. Good leadership by 28 ( I believe) for Rogers and 14 for Moorhead in getting their teammates out of there so it didn't escalate further. I thought the officials seemed very determined to prevent the game from getting cheap..... Which may have impacted how some things were called.
