No disrespect, but McLaughlin might be the third best player on his own team.GopherHockey wrote:The five are:blueblood wrote:Link not working. My guess on the 5

None taken...our panel fought hard over all of the 4 non-Casey choices. Choosing five is way harder than 10.boblee wrote:No disrespect, but McLaughlin might be the third best player on his own team.GopherHockey wrote:The five are:blueblood wrote:Link not working. My guess on the 5

Miller has more goals, assists and points. He is one of the fastest kids in the state and he is outstanding on special teams.WestMetro wrote:BobLee, depends who shows up which night I guess. I can remember 2 games this year where Blakes performance and multiple shift endurance was pretty remarkable
Hain has two fewer points, but him and McLaughlin are coin flip players.
Miller is a senior and is having a better season. The McLaughlin pick doesn't make sense to me.

Safe to say you already have his next interview set up for accepting the awardYouthHockeyHub wrote:None taken...our panel fought hard over all of the 4 non-Casey choices. This isn't a SENIOR award....boblee wrote:Miller has more goals, assists and points. Also didn't Blake win Bantam YHH player of the year? Maybe a little extra crush on him as a player. All 3 are great players and their college choices prove that.
BobLee, Hainer had more goals than any of three so I suppose could have picked him on that basis. And frankly I think he may have been the best pure snipe, when he got a good look I knew he was going to bury it.
Truth is you could have picked any of the three, or two or even all three of them.
The games I saw.....Blake was more of the difference maker. Not sayin that was the case all season.

For the record. Gavin Hain was Bantam POTY in '15. Miller was a finalist a year before to Casey.
That debunks "the crush" angle.
That said, our staff has seen 11 GR games, we unanimously picked Blake. For the exact reason West said, he does so many things that aren't box score or stat line driven. A strong case can be made for all 3. If you read the article, we explain it pretty clearly (the other two were honorable mentions). We did the best we could.

Re: Poty
More likely it's just a sign that there are more standout forwards than defensemen this year (which is true in my opinion).WarmUpTheBus wrote:Defensemen need not apply.GopherHockey wrote: The five are:
