Section 2/6 AA at Mariucci Arena

Post by Gotothenetman »

Does anyone know if there will be any Pre-sales at Mariucci for Wednesday night? I am guessing this will be a huge draw. Curious if you will be able to go down earlier in the day to purchase tickets?

I've gone for the past few years and have never had issues getting tickets. Line usually moves fast and although ticket sales may suggest otherwise, you won't have a problem getting a seat. Gets a little crowded at the end of the first game, but then clears out a bit for the second. Should be a great night of some puck.

In 08, 09, & 11 (10 was at Target Center), it was a super atmosphere & getting tickets took a while, so it made sense to get them ahead of time if you could. I still remember '09 when the ticket line was not only out the door at Mariucci, but went all the way down to the scalpers corner at 4th & Oak.

Now, it's just not a thing, for some reason. I guess, if you can get tickets ahead of time at the schools, do it. But I definitely wouldn't go out of your way to do it.

Ever since that mess in '09 the attendance has been down. Lines are not bad anymore.

Go to the back door ticket office... You'll breeze right through.

I remember the atmosphere in 2008 was incredible and the place was packed for both the BSM/Minnetonka overtime game and then Edina/Burnsville game with the Anders Lee (Budish?) Penalty shot. Those 2 games were the greatest atmosphere games I've ever experiences. Sad to see what its become where the rink is barely half full, not sure what happened.

Mariucci should be a bit more full this year with three large schools, and a Holy Family team that is in everyone's top five. Last year, Prior Lake and Cretin weren't as big of draws, and the atmosphere was sterile. Unlike BIG and Braemar, Mariucci is setup to handle the ticket volume (eight ticket windows?), so buying a ticket shouldn't be an issue. I didn't recall an issue last year. Rush hour traffic and finding parking pose bigger challenges, in my opinion.

08 was the best collective set of games that I think I've been to for section finals (there may have been better individual games, but as a set, this one tops it). Tonka totally owning the first two periods & seemingly in total control, and then Benilde turned on some switch to tie it & win it in OT. Totally out of nowhere. And then Edina & Burnsville was awesome. Edina mostly had the better scoring chances & B'Ville's goalie standing on his head, but B'Ville tying it late & almost winning it on a deflection. The Lee penalty shot was crazy atmosphere.
