5-3 final.

Boom goes the dynamite. Elk River goes home again. Congrats to Rapids, when they find their mojo they are extremely dangerous.

OMG. That was unreal. Very happy for the Injuns. Definitely feel bad for the Elks. No words right now.

Anyone want to play a 7AA semifinal thread drinking game for the coming ER comment storm?

Congratulations Rapids on making it to state. Oh wait, that's right, this was only the semi-final round. Oh well, formalities..... :!:

Elk River must be desperate for Hermantown to opt up so they can get reassinged to a different section. Congratulations to Rapids on a great turn-around from the debacle in Cloquet.

Thank you sir. I still can't believe that 3rd period. I thought there was little chance against that defense. I should have went to it.

I really should go Thursday night.

Yeah I wonder. The next game today should be more of the same.

Congrats to the Thawks. I had said the other day to Grindian and others earlier in this thread that Thawks were the dark horse to win 7 and win it all at the X! Now the first step has happened. Keep it up Coach and Boys, this is now your year.

Congrats to Elks on great season, saw them play 3 or 4 times and I couldnt have been more impressed. Good luck to boys headed for college hockey!
Also great season of postings from AlCloseShaver, and looking for him to keep us posted on the Elk boys starting next August and Sept at the Elite leagues.

Section 7 playoffs are the best!!!

Kniven, we will need you to livestream the final next Thursday!

The "curse of AMSOIL/DECC Arena" continues. Elk River coaches probably will really push hard for the semifinals and final to be moved next year.

Such a curse!!!!! Last time I checked tho, Rapids was a good hour or so away from Duluth as well.. We know there will be complaints, but that said , what a game by Rapids.. Reminds me of the game winner against East last year with 6 seconds left

Now that I've had a little time to wind down and think about the game I think they executed Klatts game plan almost perfectly. They needed to keep it close with great goal tending (that happened) and they needed to keep the big 3 as fresh as possible for the 3rd period. The Rapids 3rd line got quite a bit of ice time and were very good. They may have been the biggest factor in allowing Hain-Miller-McClaughlin to let it all hang late. Injuns were solid on defense as well.

Not sure if that was how they drew it up but it is how it worked out. I'm guessing they didn't want to be down by 2 though. Ahead, even or down 1 was probably what they were looking for.

Heard it's the classic boring east game out there today. I swear, sometimes watching east's style is like watching paint dry.

I've never heard a place go from so quiet to complete bedlam so fast. The Rapids faithful sitting below us in the first deck went nuts. And again four more times that period.

I walked by some of the Elk fans afterward and they were about as despondent a group as I've seen in a long time.
