As much as I'd like this to happen, a Greenway win is a pipe dream. Don't do drugs, kids.

That would be right up there with the Americans beating the Russians in 1980 and Holy Cross upsetting the Gophers in 2006.

That would be the best thing to happen for Minnesota
hockey in a long time for sure. Hermantown has all the pressure. Greenway should be able to go out there and have fun. When talented kids have fun interesting things can occur.

If that happens, Greenway should have to opt up!

Those upsets would pale in comparison to Greenway beating Hermantown. Team USA had skill and speed throughout their lineup. Holy Cross beat an overrated Gophers club. The Raiders have a nice, lower, first-tier Class A team. They have one player I'd consider dangerous - Lantz - and a bunch of muckers. They'll do well to get within 3 goals of the Hawks.

If by upset you mean keep it out of running time, there is a slight chance. But thanks for the good thought. However here are the reasons Greenway could win.

4. Most fans in the State of Hockey will be behind them.
3. They have the better coach.
2. They believe they can win.
1. The hockey gods deem it so.

The reasons Hermantown will win.

3. They have home ice advantage. (Some fan from another team
pointed this out to me.)
2. They are faster, stronger, more skilled and deeper. The have two Mr.
Hockey finalists and a Brimsek Award finalist. I've lost track of the D1
commits.
1. It would not be fair to St. Paul. To have fans from Greenway and
Grand Rapids in the same town for three nights sharing the same
hotels, eating establishments and most importantly drinking
establishments is something the St. Paul Police Department and
the Sanitation Department should not be forced to handle. There
would be a definite increase is sales of adult beverages as mass
quantities would be consumed.

Grant Troumbly and Casadonte Lawson should not be classified as muckers. Troumbly is a scorer. The kid can shoot the puck and is difficult to take out of a play. Lawson, a sophomore, has developed into a scorer as well and is shifty and a great stickhandler around the net. Lantz definetly makes that line go but the other two do have skills. The rest of the team is bunch of hard workers who do well with the skills they have.

LOL on the Rapids and Greenway fans. That wouldn't be far from reality I bet. However, assuming GR will get by East Thursday is jumping ahead of what will likely be another epic game in a long line of them between the 2.

Troumbly & Lawson nice players but would be 4th liners on the Hawks club. Perhaps Lantz would be a second line center but not this year. Totally different teams. Hawks perhaps best team in state regardless of class. Greenway? Among top 50

I'm no voodo magic guy. But sometimes you just have to speak some things into existence.

You just need one person to believe in you!

Go Raiders!

I wasn't debating where Lawson & Troumbly would fit on the Hermantown team I was disagreeing with you calling them muckers. Also, it is easy to say Hermantown is perhaps the best team in the state when you play six teams in a tournament (sections through state), all of which you can put into running time. When you grow a set and play with the big boys and have to play six games against teams all of which have the potential to beat you then can actually prove you're the best team in the state. Talk is easy when you don't have to back it up.

I agree with you on all your points. But from I witnessed on Saturday and from what I saw after watching Greenway (and Virginia and Hibbing) three times this season they're a group of muckers compared to Hermantown. Hermantown faster bigger stronger deeper and more skilled across the board.
Even on paper, Hawks are in the conversation as best team in Minnesota. Greenway not even part of the conversation. For Greenway to pull an upset everything would have to line up as a once in a lifetime event. Not gonna happen

Best part about this prediction is if I'm right, I will be a hero. If I'm wrong, no one will bat an eye.

If this happens, then what would they claim that Greenway is a private school?

I see this game is also on WDIO. Any chance someone could stream this one for us lowly far away fans?

Someone would have to be watching it first. I'm guessing you're going to have to find a family member or girlfriend of a player.

I would if I were going to watch it. I'm not interested in seeing a 9-0 game in the second period. Unless Hermantown decides to play with their food before they eat it.

I haven't seen either of these teams play this year and I have nothing against Hermantown like some people on here, but I would Love to see Greenway back in St Paul.
It's not the Best players, it's the Right players! HB
