Anyone know what kind of a crowd they're expecting at Mariucci?

Really letttint them play, chippy, lots of big hits.

EP takes 1-0 leaf after Casey blows by Tabor, big rebound by Moe, and EP player knocks in goal.
Casey took a shot into the boards after his shot, got up slow and limping, Lee was pissed.

Holy family scores as I'm writing this. People stood up in front of me so I couldn't see, but bit scrum in front of net. EP goalie was arguing the call

1-1 after one period. Rudrud for EP, created by a CM rush. HF...off a scramble in front, Hankinson I believe. This is one of the rare games where EP will not be dominating puck possession, I thought HF controlled the puck more, although it was close.

I agree that holy family controlled a little more of the play but it was close. I thought the fire's passing was pretty brutal though and that hurt them. Te fire are doing a lot of after the whistle Checks. I think they are trying to do some mind games

2-2 after 2 periods. Sullivan boards Anderson and gets a 5 minute major...Anderson on ice for a couple minutes, hopefully he's OK. HF with 4:29 remaining in the PP to start the 3rd period.

I don't think he did it intentionally, but that looked really bad. Might be a result of the refs really letting them play. They could have called a handful of other penalties let alone another 5 minute major earlier in the game

I regret missing this game. Was stuck late at the office and listened to audio from LPH. Talk about a back and forth game. Oh well, it will be fun to see EP at the X next week.

Congrats to Casey and EP!

Family: well done in championship game, and a great run this season, in another section configuration you would have been at the X as well.!

Everyone in the building except the ref knew that should have been 5 and a game.

There is no doubt about this. They were very impressive and with a bounce or two they could easily be going instead of EP. When the Fire had that PP at the end and made the pass into the slot I thought for sure that one-timer was going in to tie it, but Wiencek somehow came up with the save. Really an exciting game to see.

It only took 2 Edina kids to get the Fire to their first section championship game. Add one or two more and they might make it to state.

I've been working on that joke for months, would have been a lot sweeter if Edina woudn't have lost tonight too. In all seriousness, the Fire, if everyone comes back next year could be even better than this year, they looked very good and I was impressed by them. Congrats on an excellent season

I was in the building and this should have been 2:00. Anderson was leaning on the Ep the player, the hit took place before they crossed the redline. It looked worse than what it really was, This was a 2 players going hard for the puck. Anderson looked fine when he came back out. He is a smart player.

From my friend at the game, he wasn't real impressed with either team.

"1st game wasn't very good. 3rd period was better. HFC did not look like HFC at all: no speed, terrible passing, no net crashing. EP played just okay. Mittlestadt was the difference!"

EP came out hard and threw the body, but then sat back and allowed HF to get their legs. The big ice definitely favored EP, but primarily because of CM finding huge holes to play in. HF battled, but never really took control or had large amounts of zone time (less the 5 min PP).

The 5 min major was BS, if that was a major, then so was the play on the first goal when Mittelstadt was taken out and crashed into the boards. The refs let them play, and so they did in that instance, maybe an interference call, but not a major. Looked way worse than it was.

Wiencek saved the day after CM missed an open net...

Sorry I don't agree with that. Can't give two for a boarding with injury anyway.

Seeing both games last night, either EP or HF would have taken care of Wayzata or Edina with relative ease.

It was BECAUSE the hit took place before they crossed the goal line that it was a 5 minute major for boarding. The definition of boarding is NOT "intentionally illegal hit". It is "being launched into the boards as a result of a hit". When a player is away form the boards a bit is WHEN they get launched. Anderson being leaning or off balance is also irrelevant to the call and in fact only adds to the possibility of the hit leading to a board (launched into the boards). It was a 5 minute major and could have added a game. Not because it was dirty, but because of the violence of how Anderson was launched into the boards. Sullivan is a great, clean player. As far as the game, it was excellent. Two very good teams playing a heavy weight game. EP's 3rd goal was the one that really mattered as far as the outcome of the game. Still not sure how that went in. But congrats to both teams on an awesome game. EP will be tough to beat with CM on all cylinders.

I also thought the referees made the right call.

I would agree, as long as we're talking about the way Edina played last night. They were definitely not at their best.
