Grand Rapids 05-06

Post by gr19 »

Well, this is a thread for the GR folks. What are the expectations of you Rapids fans? I am interested to see how things work out with Jared Smith moving to forward to play on line 1 with Patrick White. The defense should be fairly solid. If we get a goalie that can play very well, then GR should be a solid team in 7AA. I'm interested to hear from JLS 81, W900, boblee, and others about GR.

Oh, and out of curiousity, will Greenway have a good team?

I hear they are pretty thin at the goalie position.

That sounds a lot like ER and East. Cloquet seems to have the net taken care of, but not much besides that. It will be interesting to see which goalies step up in the section and how the teams progress.
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls
Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... kesBack at: 10/14/05 6:21 pm

Cloquet definately does have the net taken care of. But they also have other strong points.

ER, I think there are a couple of forwards who have been as successful in the select and US teams as Ellingson, but their names aren't being touted as much as Ellingson's, for whatever reason. I can't even recall their names now, but they had some good speed when I saw them late last spring and the ability to get it in the net.
I had heard CEC's defense was ok...but did they lose many of their D to graduation? Anyone want to expand on that?

Thank you puckhead. You are the first person who has actually expanded somewhat on what Cloquet has besides Reid instead of just saying that he isn't all that they have.

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

ok well here's some more about Cloquet.
We've got Tyler Johnson who's been working hard all summer and has really improved. He'll be one to watch this year.

Others from last year
Riley Roe, Steve Mlodozyniec, Sever Lundquist, Jake Anderson, Jason Syrett

There's also kids coming up from JV that are looking pretty good.

Last year they lost 2 seniors Ray Saeland and Tyler Fast who were good but they're actually going to be stronger defensively this year.
