Luverne's goaltender put on quite a show and have not seen a goaltender play this well under constant attack since Charlie Lindgren did playing for Lakeville North. Hermantown was all over Luverne for most all of the game but Luverne was able to keep it close due to goaltending! All the kids played hard and congratulations to both teams on a great game!
Played a great game. I do have to say a lot of the shots were directly at the L on his jersey though. A majority of his saves were due to being in excellent position.
Luverne absolutely had enough chances to win that game yesterday. Some questionable spacing on some of their breakouts and 2-1's in my opinion. Sure seemed like a couple people (14,9) wanted to shoot and possibly score on bad angles rather than take a better option on a pass.
Don't know if it would have changed the final outcome, but it sure looked like those 2 wanted to do it themselves and the later of the 2 didn't seem to have near the conditioning as the other 2. Hard to attack a team like Hermantown with only 2 forwards trying to set up initially in the zone.
All that said Luverne played an excellent game that was exciting to watch, that top line of juniors (assuming they aren't leaving?) are going to be very exciting to watch next year. If they stay Luverne back to state next year no question.
