Could the problem with the first one be that there are no other Grand Rapids fans...

JK man
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Re: GR
Hockeywild.....and you know this, why? or how did you come about this knowledge? Are you a scout divulging information or are you just another CEC fan who thinks that unless you have Ellingson in net you don't have anyone capable?

Re: GR
Amazing GR19, it looks like all anyone wants to talk about is CEC! But wait, the undoing was your own! Puck head 89 says

Quote:
Are you a scout divulging information or are you just another CEC fan who thinks that unless you have Ellingson in net you don't have anyone capable?

If I remember correctly, it was GR19 that originally posted the first message in the 7AA thread that said

Quote:
I think CEC, East, Elk River, and Grand Rapids will be in the semi's this year. I hope CEC plays Elk River in the semi's. I would love to see an offensive team like ER battle the best goalie in the state, Reid Ellingson.

On the bright side, GR19, the lack of response to your thread from GR fans may show that, unlike last season, they (some current players are included in this group) are not willing to predict how good their team may be.. BTW, I know there are many Rapids fans that were very objective about their team and other teams last year and will be again. CEC isn't void of the same type of fans. Hope you get your thread back on subject.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... >wild77 at: 10/16/05 6:37 pm

Re: GR
puckhead,

With the number 89 i'm assuming you're a young one but i honestly thought you'd be smarter than this. Did you read the topic of this thread? Did you even read my post? I never said anything about CEC..and not a thing about Ellingson. I have been watching Pat this summer and think he's going to be one to watch this winter. And from talking to many people, I know that they're going to be short handed when it comes to the goalie position this year. I'm interested to see who they put in the net this year though..

Re: GR
I am a fan of more than one team in the great hockey state of Minnesota -- Grand Rapids is one. The poster is asking (for the most part to stay on Grand Rapids....not unreasonable). Some posters have to pump up their team on threads it does not belong....why???? --- you tell me.

Possibly, their insecurities?

Re: GR
hockeywild,

I too am interested to see who GR puts in the net. My point to you, and anybody else on this thread who wants to talk down any player, or build any player up at the cost of another, will ALWAYS get a response from me. You stated that GR won't have anybody in the net. This is an unfair comment to make about any player on any team.

By the way hockeywild, I will bet my bottom dollar that I am older than you....89 has nothing to do with my age or hockey for that matter.

In closing, go to it Grand Rapids. Show 'em all up.

my mistake.

I wasn't talking down any player because i have no idea who they're going to be putting in the net. I do know they have slim pickings though.

I'd like to see them show us all up too

Re: puckhead
Well, since I don't live in GR anymore I'm not familiar with most of their players anymore. I'm not trying to pump them up or tear down anyone. Goaltending has been an issue, that's just a fact. I think from what I watched last season there is reason to be slightly optimistic. Their JV goalies were really good last season. So who knows. I know Bruce will put a team on the ice that will be competitive.

Re: puckhead
Well GR19 I have a bit of inspiration for you, I dont live to close either but I still keep up with what is going on around here as far as the sports are concered. I will be happy to inform you what we have for players coming in and returning Vets. I am still going to stress "team" although your a "hero" type guy for reasons that are not in my dictionary, but here ya go:
Welliver-Fast Hard working forward
Mahar-Tuff wing also very fast
Smith-Good at D and he should stay there
Stejckal- Ditto
Jerule-New kid coming from Batams. Good hands. Fast
Sparen-Ditto
Prokop-Ditto
Clafton-Captain. D.
Wholers (sp)-Hard working forward. Came in from Hibbing. Supper kid fits in well.
Theres more but I'll let you ponder these for now. Make your phone calls and secret mails and we'll get back to you.
W(ec)9/000.

you got it wrong
I said team is important.

Anyways, W900, what does this team have to do to get past East in the playoffs. Yes CEC fans, I know it was CEC last year, but we knocked off your top seed rear end two years ago. Been there done that. Same can't be said against East. To me, as a GR fan, I obviously want them to win in the playoffs against East, but deep down I feel, it's East, they're gonna win, because they are East. What does a team have to do to get past the psychological thing with losing to a particular opponent? Maybe I'm way off, but it's how I feel. I hope the players think I'm wrong.

Re: you got it wrong
I'll lighten up on you, I know you mean well. For GR to get by DE your goning to have to put three lines on the ice because DE may come at you with four lines and they well ware you down. Goal tending is going to be a big hurdle. I'll head over to the rink friday when I'm in Rapids and see whats going on. I think they have cap. practice.

Your Back GR19
Since this may be my last post prior to getting the proverbial "dork pipe" from the powers that be allow me to close talking about the "Fabulous T-birds". I did see them play this summer for what it is worth and thought the move of Smith to a Foward along with Patrick White was interesting. I am not certain that move will remain or not.
Zach Morse was also moved to a forwad but again not certain Bruce will stick with that plan as it sounded like the transition did not go smoothly for young Zach. Still his speed and hands would be nice to have up front on a team that is fairly deep at defense.
Zach Morse-fast with good hands.
Welliver-Extremely hard working.
Smith- looking good in Elite so far.
Stejskal- showed his physical strength this summer
Jerule-might make the team, my pick is JR though
Sparen-will make the team
Clafton-Seniors year to lead a team.
Sophmore surprise- big JR Mackey I think he will find a spot on the ol' Varsity roster this season, can finish and Bruce needs guys like that around.

GR19- You have a great mix of kids this year. Also Bruce has a pile of Seniors to pick from who will have to battle a pile of very good sophmores coming in from the Bantam A program. Bruce did this one right by allowing the Juniors from last season to stick around for another shot in their Senior year. I think this will benefit him greatly in 2005-2006 season.

The difference I think you will get out of GR 2005-2006 is TEAM play as opposed to 2004-2005. If my speculation is incorrect than it will be another very frustrating season but I do not expect it from this group of kids, the team cancers of the past are now gone and that is all I will say about that.

only to please you
JLS 81, the thing that concerns me that needs to be fixed is the needless penalties. There were so many games you can look at where power play goals killed them, especially in the playoffs. These players need to get it in their heads that if you get cheap shoted, retaliate by putting the puck in the net.

I hope you are right about the cancers being absent. I hope this years seniors don't think it is "their" team. It's the communities "team". Play together, and the seniors, juniors, and sophmores have to view each other as equal.

Anyways, keep me posted as to the things going on in practice, who is impressing coaches, and if a goalie steps it up and grabs a hold of the starting job.
