What a fun game Hermantown vs. Eden Prairie was. After a scoreless first, it looked like EP was going to run away with it in the 2nd period taking a 3-1 lead, but Hermantown battles back and brought the game to within a goal late in the period. EP nets another goal early in the 3rd to make the score 4-2 EP, then Hermantown scores two in the later half of the frame to force OT. Little bit of controversy in OT. EP is attacking and the Hermantown net becomes dislodged. Instead of a whistling the play dead, the referee quickly resets the goal cage. EP subsequently scores soon after, also on the power play, to win it 5-4.
Hermantown gave EP everything they had. EP brought a physical game to this one. They took a couple bad penalties away from the puck, but it didn’t end up hurting them in the end. I thought Jensen and Konin played well for EP. They were much more noticeable on the ice than in the Cretin game. EP is going to need to score a lot to have a chance to win. 10 goals against (1 ENG) is a bit much over two games.
