AND, RESPECTFULLY... You make my point.

Rules are made for a reason. Not to be "Amended, Granted, Overlooked, Twisted, Lobbied, Changed, Bastardized, etc..." whenever something like this comes along.

Bottom line. A valuable gameslot is gone.

Incredibly WEAK.
What does "declined the game" mean? If it's on the schedule, doesn't that imply they accepted it and the obligations of it?
Is there precedent for this?

They have done this before, so it wouldn't be unprecedented. Generally though it is because a school can not field a team.

No one wants to go to Luverne......cost wise.
My kids played there in district 4, we were always treated very well, even given a spaghetti dinner after VFW games..... literally a treat for the kids (and parents) to sit with WWII and Korean war vets and talk to those heroes.

Certainly it is a long and boring bus ride down to Luverne. But the two teams have met each of the last three regular seasons, including SPA traveling to Luverne in 2015. It’s not exactly like SPA is hurting for money, either, so it seems as if something else prompted the cancellation.

1-3 record and a lot of $32k slots to fill next year.

Greenway 0
Mahtomedi 4

Greenway ran into a brick wall tonight. The squad in the darks just couldn’t buy a goal. 3-4, 5 on 3’s, lazy and lousy penalties on greenway also. Just not moving there feet all the time and getting caught in a hole they couldn’t get out of. Gonna have to find a way to rebound and bounce back.

As for Mahtomedi great team! Older, skilled, fast and just simply wanted it.

Quote of the night, I have never seen a team be afraid of another team when there at zero.

Luverne is underated.

It is too early to split hairs though, nice job.
And who has Luverne played?? They barely got by Marshall winning 3 - 1. I think they will have to play someone first to prove they are anything.

Agreed, let's see how they fair over the next couple weeks. They are at Totino Grace next Friday and open The South St. Paul tourney against Eagan who has looked good early.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean but I'm pretty sure Greenway isn't afraid to play anyone. They grow up on the Range, playing in the Snake Pit. They aren't gonna be intimidated by a bunch of Preppies.

This is a bit of a deceiving score for a few reasons. Shots were 52 to 14 in favor of Orono, but the Spartans had trouble breaking through until the third period. Kennedy has hung around in every one of their games so far, even against fairly strong competition like Delano and Minneapolis. Finally, Orono was just coming off of a victory on Tuesday against their biggest section arrival in Breck, so there may have been a bit of a letdown factor.

Nice bounce back by the Raiders!
Fought and didn’t let down. Learned from last night and took it out on Cathedral. Although Cathedral took control of the 1st.

saturday games

It was a good game...but Cathedral was the better team with shots almost being 2-1 at 49-27. That said, props to the Greenway Goalie...he was calm and was the number one star of the game for sure.

The biggest concern are team has is Greeway played the night before and our boys stayed home while sugar cane danced in the heads. The next day Grreenway had to get up at 7 in the morning hop on the bus and play their second game in 17 hours, the DQ at the end of the game another concern.

I don't understand why you would quote yourself and not add anything new to the post. I must be missing something.

I don't understand why he's so upset the kids went to Dairy Queen after the game. This whole nutrition thing is being overplayed.
