Section 2 and 6 Saturday lineup
Does anyone know what the protocol is for the Saturday games at Braemar and BIG. I know Edina can't play at home assuming they beat Armstrong. Usually the late game at BIG is the 1 seed game. Does the 1 seed get the early game at Braemar?

It doesn't really matter for 2AA and 6AA if they are in the same arena or not. They empty the building after each game and there's a 90 minute break between them, having to pay to get back in for another game. It's not like 7AA where you get to watch both games for one price. BIG and Braemar are literally 10 minutes apart, so it makes no difference really.TheHockeyDJ wrote:![]()
for putting each set of semis in one arena!
The bigger thing I wish they would do, is somehow schedule it so you could theoretically watch all 4 games. Which would be difficult anyways as you need to get there somewhat early to secure a ticket as they are usually packed houses, depending on who is playing.
Re: Section 2 and 6 Saturday lineup
Once they moved Jefferson and Edina out of Section 2, it became easier to do this. Neither could play at home for the semis, so they always needed to have the option to have Edina play at BIG and Jefferson to play at Braemar, which would usually cause the split in 2AA in the past. Since realignment, its not an issue anymore, so they can put 6AA at BIG and 2AA at Braemar from the outset.green4 wrote:2AA is at Braemar this yearWarmUpTheBus wrote:Does anyone know what the protocol is for the Saturday games at Braemar and BIG. I only care about the convenience of having 2 games back to back. 90 minutes is not a big deal at all. And the cost of a HS ticket is nothing, it's pocket change. Whenever I hear someone complain about the cost of a HS ticket or streaming I just laugh.gitter wrote:It doesn't really matter for 2AA and 6AA if they are in the same arena or not. I'm not talking about the cost of it. I'm talking about why it doesn't matter if they are in the same arena. When your first game ends at 2:15 and the next game doesn't start until 4, why does it matter if you drive back to Braemar, or drive 10 minutes to BIG? You aren't staying at Braemar in either scenario from 2:15 to 4:00, and your paying to get into either. It makes no difference in this scenario where the second semifinal is played.TheHockeyDJ wrote:I only care about the convenience of having 2 games back to back. 90 minutes is not a big deal at all. It doesn't matter on a large scale. But if you stay in Edina for instance I would think it would be more fun to just go to a place like a Champs between games and stay there. Just slightly more convenient.gitter wrote:I'm not talking about the cost of it. I'm talking about why it doesn't matter if they are in the same arena. If there was a bar right near Braemar or BIG that would make sense. But there isn't. They are all along the 494 corridor so its 6 of one, half dozen of the other when going from one of those bars to BIG or Braemar.
And then you have fans like me - I don't really care to make the distinction between the 2AA bracket and 6AA bracket - I'm going to the best perceived matchups on that Saturday, whether they are all in 2AA or 6AA or a split of them...if that makes sense.

It is cheaper than Wild ticket but taking 3 or 4 kids and yourself to 2 games plus going somewhere to eat between games adds up.TheHockeyDJ wrote:I only care about the convenience of having 2 games back to back. 90 minutes is not a big deal at all. I guess we all laugh at different things ... I laugh at people who talk about the DJ and choice of music at a hockey game.
If youโre going between Braemar and BIG after the first game at Braemar, you better get out of the parking lot right away or youโll be cutting it close for the 3pm game at BIG. It will take at least 20-30 minutes to get through the BIG ticket line unless they improved the process this year.
Last year, my friend and I got in line at BIG to get tickets a couple minutes before puck drop between Minnetonka and Holy Family, and we didnโt get seated until the first intermission.

Wow. Why can't BIG get stuff like this figured out. Reminds me of Heritage on Tue. night. And these games have been at BIG and Braemar for many years now. Puzzling they can't as you say "improve the process" when they've had so much repetition.ryguyMN wrote:If youโre going between Braemar and BIG after the first game at Braemar, you better get out of the parking lot right away or youโll be cutting it close for the 3pm game at BIG. With a family, sure I can see on some level the cost being an issue. I was aiming mostly at people who have wanted live video streaming, finally a TV station steps up and offers it at a very reasonable price and we get complaining. It's as if they have this bitter mentality that people working at said station don't deserve to get paid for their work and should by law be forced to do this for free.silentbutdeadly3139 wrote:It is cheaper than Wild ticket but taking 3 or 4 kids and yourself to 2 games plus going somewhere to eat between games adds up.TheHockeyDJ wrote:I only care about the convenience of having 2 games back to back. 90 minutes is not a big deal at all. I know it's a bit of a hassle but I run over to BIG in the morning and pick up tickets for a few people so we don't have to deal with the last minute rush. also it probably won't be a problem this year but in some years the games would sell out.TheHockeyDJ wrote:Wow. Yeah this is irritating...esp since the game times used to be 3:30 and 7:30...it wasn't as big of an issue...but for some reason they moved it up to 3 and 7.TheHockeyDJ wrote:Wow. It seems to happen every year, but looks like another potential conflict for Edina fans if the girls beat Eden Prairie tonight as both teams would be playing at the same time. Used to run into the problem with Minnetonka too when they would play the night game at BIG. Their situation has changed in that any section semi game they would play would be at Braemar during the afternoon.
Is there a reason that they can't flip the times & have Edina play the earlier game at BIG tomorrow? 2 years ago, BSM was the #1 seed & they played the early game vs. Cretin, so that shows that it doesn't have to be 1 seed playing at night.

Edina had the option to play at 3 and 7 - they elected 7:00 from what I heard.
