Hey Kniven,

Do you know what happened to Landon Parker from EGF for the North Team?
He was listed on the team but it looks like he only played in 1 game.

Thanks,
What is a Green Wave anyway?

This was marketed as Team North vs USA17’s, except there were several non-North players in the lineup. Why not reward the #218 kids that have had a great season to date vs adding other players.

I agree. But the Elite league does things backwards, pretty much all the time. I learned 7 years ago that lesson. It’s what it is. Just counting down the days to the season

Ryder had a highlite reel goal. As good finesse coming across the crease as I’ve seen from him

Joey P continued to play at forward, where will Htown play him this season?

Fabor and Kelley looked great. Fabor plays 2+ years older than his age. Course that is no surprise

Gallatin looked good on PPs

For being 2002s , Team USA has some good sized kids

I Snagged a couple pucks over the glass for grandson, saved a USA mom on one of them

CakeScout-excellent up to date info and opinions , as always !

How many non-north guys suited up? They did it earlier having some ccm guys fill in, and I’m pretty sure it’s due to injuries no?

Faber and Kelley are the real deal...
I remember when Kelley was the only one of the OMG ‘crew’ that was cut from squirt A- first year-

Three F (Mittelstadt, Gleason, Pinoniemi) and one D (Koster) filled in for injured players.

20 man roster
14 from 3 HS teams (D East, Hermantown, Cloquet)
4 replacements from Twin Cities
2 from Grand Rapids

That's it. The best 2002 born players sourced from Alaska to New York just eked out a win over an all-star team from little more than 3 Minnesota-based high schools. A GREAT showing for the North! Well done, boys.

My point was they’ve done it before so they clearly have some injuries. I’d imagine both Team North and Team USA wanted the best players (not on Southwest since they play them tomorrow) to fill in for this particular game. Who else could they have taken from the 218?

I agree. When the played in Blaine a couple weeks ago someone remarked they looked small. Seems like a lot of 6'4" guys that can move to me! Some of these kids are 10th graders and at least one is still 15.

Fargos Kleven and Calif Peterson both listed as 6.4 with Jan 02 birthdates , could easily top out at 6.6 or 6.7. Both had a few inches on Norths biggest Dmen Cochran and M Langenbrunner . Dman Laatsch from Altoona 6.4 with Feb O2 birthday

Thinking about it some more , I suppose if North had wanted to keep as 218 as possible , they could have drafted the Greenway D1s , but that would have depleted Great Plains pretty badly

WM:

HS players are not eligible to play for their coaches in the fall season. That’s why GW kids are on Great Plains and Ep kids on SE.

FInally had a chance to watch the archived stream. Did think it was interesting they put non-north Koster on first PP unit, but I guess they’re trying to win the game. This was my first viewing of Donovan this fall and he didn’t disappoint. That combo of size and skating is something special.

Again with the metro kids, but Koster and Gleason looked great. Pino had some really good flashes too. Maybe it was just me, but I thought Mittelstadt appeared to struggle. He works pretty hard, but doesn’t seem to have the poise when the game gets this fast and tight. Was directly responsible for at least two of USA’s goals. He’s had a great off-season and a pretty good fall, so I’m hoping it was just an off night for him.

USA scored 3 goals in under 3 minutes at the beginning of the 2nd to open up a 4-1 lead and it looked like it might get real lopsided. Credit North for making adjustments and Clafton in goal for locking things down. I didn't see them give up many good scoring chances the rest of the way which allowed them to get back in the game.

Agree with O-town. Coaches picked up 4 very talented metro players and kids responded by pushing a talented u17 to the wire.

I don’t think they could have taken the Greenway kids because Clafton is the coach.

Anybody watch this morning's game? I watched the start but gave up once the Vikings started due to choppy stream. Looks like it was another close game.

Mittelsteadt took a slash to the back of his knee behind the play in the first period. He was visibly in pain and limped through a couple of shifts and didn’t seem full speed after that.
