It's Bryce Brodzinski's to lose... Came back from a successful stint in the USHL to play High School hockey even though everybody told him he shouldn't.. He just wanted to be with his friends and make one more run he said in the news clip. The coaches/HSL are loving this story... and he's been a scoring machine so far!
Absolutely running away with it unless something very political gets in the way...
Not sure what you’re smoking Bo...Bryce is a hell of a player, but to say he’s running away with it (at this point) is Common Man (preposterous statement tournament) worthy
I think you will take the cake for Hollow Headed Man of the year for not seeing it...
I knew your hive would get punctured
Bo...I had 2 sons who played for Anoka Not sure where your getting Yellowjacket reference either, since I graduated from tUMD

Hmm... trying to think of two brothers (talented?) that played at anoka the last 10+years... since I know the program very well!! 95% of your posts are about Edina and mostly about a single player.. or who he played with. Yes, "common man" with a scary high IQ...

Edina? Bo...you been tooten on the wild wood weed from Northern Anoka county this morning? I rarely talk about Edina in my posts...DE from time to time, Tonka from time to time, but NOT Edina Either tooten, got me confused with someone else - or both! But I shouldn’t be too hard on you, North Branch/Cambridge Isanti did spon a goalie that got the Bulldogs to a National Title game
If I was to rank (as we stand today) mostly based on who makes the selection of Mr Hockey (largely NHL scouting) influenced 1) Donovan 2) Koster 3) Brodzinski 4) Leudtke 5) Jack Jensen (one of these 5 will 99% chance win it) Other 5 finalists could be Huglen (from Roseau) Schoen from Andover, Nevers from Edina, maybe someone from STA & maybe someone from SCC. But there’s probably another 5 I’m not thinking of

Toot! Toot! Toot! Toot!

I also see Pitlick, Christy, Pinoniemi, and Jutting on the NHL Central Scouting list. No Brodzinksi, Leudtke, or Jensen. Guessing they were eligible last year? Not sure of their status.

Pitlick and pinoniemi are juniors so not Mr. Hockey eligible. For sure Jensen was NHL draft eligible last summer, and I believe Luedtke and Brodzinski were as well but definitely not sure on those two.
It’s early but it seems to be a 2 man race at this point. Not seeing the production from RD that has been consistent with BB and JJ. I presume they are all seeing similar ice time and special teams minutes. BB looks like he has made great strides in his overall game, I wasn’t expecting the impact he is making as a much more complete player. JJ coming off a fairly serious injury just looks dominant. Every team they play knows they have to stop JJ and have been unable to do so. I haven’t seen many games where he doesn’t look like a head above anyone else on the ice.
Little update from over the halfway mark...
I’d say top 10 would look something like this (in no exact order):
Brodzinski
Jensen
Luedtke
Doctor
Donovan
Huglen
Nevers
Koster
Schoen
Bayless
Also in contention:
Kukkonen, Jutting, Jungels, Vorlicky
I could definitely be missing somebody.
At this point I would give Brodzinski and Jensen the leads, but Luedtke and Doctor should be right there as they lead top ranked Tonka in scoring as defensemen and they are the dominating in the defensive end as well.

You’re right on 3 of the 4. Docter won’t win. If it’s going to a forward it’s Brodzinski or Jensen and if it goes to a D it’s Luedtke or Koster.
The award is chosen by USHL/NHL scouts and college coaches, and for better or for worse scouts aren’t as high on Docter as this forum is and are very high on Koster, Brodzinski, and Luedtke. At least at this point in time. Still a month plus of hockey left.
IMO -Luedtke, Koster and the Brodzinski are the best three players in the state
It will be interesting to see...Are the scouts making their decision based on who they see as the best skater that can play at that next level? Or simply the best high schooler playing "High school" type of hockey

Fair enough. I love Luedtkes game. Honestly if I had a vote, I’d give the award to him right now
My top 10 look something like this (in order, based on Most Valuable Player to their team and team performance):
Bryce Brodzinski (Minnesota) Blaine
Jack Jensen (Minnesota) Eden Prairie
Mike Koster (Minnesota) Chaska
Josh Luedtke (Denver) Minnetonka
Aaron Huglen (Minnesota) Roseau
Mason Nevers (Minnesota) Edina
Charlie Schoen (ASU) Andover
Trevor Kukkonen (Michigan Tech) Maple Grove
Rob Christy (Colorado College) STA
Jack Bayless (Umass Lowell) Minnetonka
*Ryder Donovan de-committed from North Dakota and has not committed anywhere else at this time.

Is Donovan not on your list because he decommitted?
The only thing working against Brodzinski right now is that he's not a highly regarded pro prospect but I think that is going to start to change with what he's doing so far this season.
Most rankings have at least Donovan, Koster, and Huglen ahead of him but I think Koster is the only one of that group whose production puts him in the conversation with Brodz in the Mr. Hockey race.
