Section 2AA and 6AA

Post by WarmUpTheBus »

It's looking like the possible matchups for the 2/3 seeds could be interesting. I realize it's far from a sure thing but does anyone have an idea of the game times on Saturday? MSHSL has Section 2AA at Braemar 3pm and 7pm and Section 6AA at BIG Noon and 4pm. Also I don't ever remember BIG going early and Braemar going late.

any idea who would play at what times in the bracket? I do not understand why they wait to post bracket winners?

The highest seed left after quarterfinals get to decide what time they want to play on those days. Section 2 is at Braemar (3:00 and 7:00), Section 6 is at BIG (12:00 and 4:00). Edina always takes the later game - so you could pencil them in at 4:00 at BIG.

With highest seed choosing, it’s a bit presumptuous to have the 1 seed decide beforehand, so out of fairness to the 8 seed they wait until it’s official. Heck, sometimes 8 seeds win! In 2AA, Tonka took the late game last year, so I’m guessing they’ll take the 7pm game at Braemar if they win.

There is a possibility that the Tonka girls could be in the State finals on Saturday night (same for Edina but not both) so I wonder if that is given any consideration.

Hoping for EP/Chaska at noon, then swinging over to BIG for BSM/Wayzata. While the sections don’t seem to have as much intrigue for me as past seasons with the dominant teams being spread out amongst sections, the semis could make for several surprises.

The MSHSL website shows the Noon and 4:00pm games at BIG and 3:00 and 7:00 at Braemar. If EP does meet Chaska it would be at 3:00 or 7:00.

Good afternoon! I'm wondering if any of the avid, dedicated, highly experienced fans of MN High School Hockey in this forum (that sounds better than suggesting some folks might be over a certain age) can explain to me how the 6AA Sectional Tournament is not being live streamed/broadcast. I had spent hours searching the web and all the usual streaming sites, only to learn the Administrators of 6AA actually CHOSE, on purpose, not to stream the games. Based upon the number of people that watch the MNHockey.TV streams during the regular season it seems crazy! Lots of us enjoy from outside MN. Geez, we'd even pay to watch the tournaments, and then it could be a money-making proposition too! I can't imagine streaming actually cuts into the number of people who attend in person--y'all are CRAZY about your hockey.

I thought somebody here might know what this is all about???

Thanks!

There was an article a few months ago about attendance dip and issues with schools funding athletic programs etc... 6AA wants you to go to the game and pad their pocket books, not listen at home. GB

One other point, they have not figured out how to monetize/tapping the revenue stream by streaming it. They are behind the times or don't have the resources to produce data that supports streaming it. GB

5AA rotates this I believe, for example (in 2016) seed 1 played seed 4 at 7pm & seed 2 played seed 3 at 3pm ☝️

Things switched up this year

I think:

Wayz BSM is at noon at BIG

Edina vs Cretin/Blake is 2nd game at Big, at 4

Chaska EP is 3 pm at Braemar

Tonka HF/PL is 7 at Braemar

Hopefully it’s Edina vs Tonka in the girls title game Saturday night, so they (the schools) decide to switch boys Tonka vs PL/HF to 3pm & Ep vs Chaska to 7pm

GB - Why not charge the anticipated drop in revenue for the streaming service? Make it their problem. Some streaming sites you have to pay for like a subscription service. It would be terrific if I could see section games across the state from the comfy confines of my barkalounger. Where I can, I try to get out and see most games. But when Aldrich sells out in 15 min for the Section 4AA final, I need options.

They are both in the bottom half of the bracket ,Edina girls #1 - Mtka #5 so no chance to play each other on Saturday night, Friday maybe.

Ugh, they switched it this year after being on the same schedule for several years. Well, I’ll just reverse what I said previously. Hope BSM/Wayzata is noon and EP/Chaska is at 3pm.

Is there a fee associated with these 7A/AA online games? If so, I’ll have to choose wisely.
