Decisions can always be reconsidered, but all indications appear to indicate this is true.

Yes this is confirmed. He even played on the Duluth Marshall team 2 weekends ago in a tournament since Randolph has banished him skating from anything to do with East.

That sounds like a bunch of Hooey
If it were true he would have skated with Denfeld

Banished? What the heck would a high school hockey coach be throwing out the “I banish you” words. That’s not the language of a high school hockey coach/leader/mentor for our kids is it? I can’t believe Coach would “banish players” high school kids....

I agree with Kniven on this one - for a coach to use the words "banish" to a player sounds way out of character. If he said he was going to leave and the coach doesn't play him and opens up a spot for another player, that sounds like moving forward. However what do I know...everyone can act a bit irrational at times...kniven wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 11:32 amDuluth_Topper wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 11:06 am Yes this is confirmed. I've only been around Randolph in arena lobbies and seen him in the state tournament, but I"m going to assume Randolph probably didn't say "JJ, I hereby banish you forever!"OldManRiver wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 12:31 pmI agree with Kniven on this one - for a coach to use the words "banish" to a player sounds way out of character. Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
But, could you hear him say... "I don't want you back here..."? I know of plenty of coaches who have uttered those words to a player.
Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
JJ isn’t the first player to leave DE early (for Juniors or NTDP) and he won’t be the last. Do know that regarding a DE player who left for USHl a bit more than a decade ago (who later played on the UMD NC team in 2011) by no coincidence...several years later his twin brothers played HS hockey for Duluth Marshall.InThePipes wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 12:34 pmI've only been around Randolph in arena lobbies and seen him in the state tournament, but I"m going to assume Randolph probably didn't say "JJ, I hereby banish you forever!"OldManRiver wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 12:31 pmI agree with Kniven on this one - for a coach to use the words "banish" to a player sounds way out of character. I was just looking at the the Duluth East jV roster from last year. Two 8th graders and two 9th graders brought up early to play JV puck.

9th graders may have run out of bantam eligibility

Was Clafton playing for Gran Rapids in goal this weekend? Anybody?

OTC, was thinking the same thing. Low point in Pauley's career in my opinion. GBAlec Baer already forgotten

Maddox Fleming leaving Rochester Mayo for Shattuck.

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
Randolph is trying to build his kids up for the next year. Why would he give up a spot to a kid who thinks he is better than the program to train, over a younger kid who needs the experience before the season starts. If a kid thinks that the program he should be at is not good enough for him, why should that program help him out?hockey59 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 1:25 pmJJ isn’t the first player to leave DE early (for Juniors or NTDP) and he won’t be the last. Watching DE last year, I don't see why these kids are leaving the program. They would all be starters on a team that is competitive and seems to get the bounces year in an year out come playoff time? They were third line kids last year, and they think they can make the jump up to Juniors, especially the USHL? The starters from last year might make them, but third line kids that imo were not that gritty, and became selfish, are going to sit if they make the team at all.

Muck..you sure about that?
Edina, Blaine, Tonka, Chaska, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove and probably even Andover all had top lines that would have been tough to crack
The kid is very good but that's a tough statement to support

He’ll now disappear into the large pool of junior hockey and just be another player trying to make it. Unless he plays with Hermantown, Denfeld, or Duluth Marshall this year and next

Kniven is probably right on this one. See Jake Hale from Minneapolis. Tough to predict how any one kid will adapt though.

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
JJ was he best forward player on the ice for HP17 tryouts in GR
He did well the 54s and made Natty Camp- I think??
..seems like he maybe he was under rated /was a late bloomer/wasn't seeing ice time at DE?
Good for him.
What happened?
Otherwise why would Randolf even care?

Plus about 10 other teams you don’t have listed but I’ll save the typing........you’ve made the point.yesiplayedhockey wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 3:13 pm Muck..you sure about that?

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
He will be just fine (but he is not coming back). He's big, strong, hard worker and more importantly: has great character and is a nice and polite young man. Regardless of what happened to cause his departure, he will do not only do well...he'll do exceptionally well. The kid is a class act, as his family.
