C-E-C and Marshall are at a huge disadvantage here because they have to play Hermantown for conference. Losing to a Class A team kills you. Rapids voluntarily plays them TWICE! Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Forest Lake could absolutely get the #2 seed.Stang5280 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 3:11 pm The ones that matter...

Fri Dec 27 @ Grand Rapids
Sat Jan 4 White Bear Lake
Thu Jan 9 @ Cretin-Derham Hall
Sat Jan 11 Stillwater
Tue Jan 21 Duluth East
Tue Jan 28 @ Cloquet-Esko-Carlton
Sat Feb 8 Cretin-Derham Hall
Tues Feb 11 @ White Bear Lake
Thu Feb 13 @ Stillwater
My guess is Forest Lake will lose some if not all of these games.
They may end up #3 seed, probably #4, maybe #5.
Everyone knows QRF is way off until at least Jan 1 if not later.

It’s interesting why Rapids, CEC, and Duluth Marshall feel they are obligated to play HH. Is that a rule in conference play that you must play everybody once? And yes, Grand Rapids is “quack” for choosing to play them twice.Jeffy95 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 3:23 pmC-E-C and Marshall are at a huge disadvantage here because they have to play Hermantown for conference. I’m pretty sure you have to play them once if you’re in the conference. Rapids isn’t in the LSC though, so they don’t have to play them at all. It cost them last year.kniven wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 4:00 pmIt’s interesting why Rapids, CEC, and Duluth Marshall feel they are obligated to play HH. Yea. I never go to the Hermantown vs. CEC high school boys games. My silent, solo, protest of that scam in Hermantown boys high school hockey. I’m always, though, at the CEC vs. Hermantown youth hockey games. You see, their youth play AA in the district playoffs/state tournaments at the youth level. Much respect for Hermantown youth hockey and not following the high school boys hockey program. Hermantown youth is respected while their high school program is laughed at for thisJeffy95 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 4:10 pmI’m pretty sure you have to play them once if you’re in the conference. Re: QRF top 20 AA 12-9-19
I absolutely agree GR is crazy for scheduling H-town. I would much prefer seeing them play Andover, and then add Anoka or a second game with Elk River each season. In general, I think they are making a mistake scheduling single A teams, and specifically should not be legitimizing H-town's program. But, I just go to the games, I don't get to schedule them.

Re: QRF top 20 AA 12-9-19
I admittedly don’t fully understand the QRFalgorithm, but the distinction between A and AA teams. A hockey team is a hockey team, regardless of classification, and there are plenty of crossover games between A and AA teams so that data shouldn’t be a problem.

Re: QRF top 20 AA 12-9-19
QRF is a joke right now. It needs to be revamped so opponent values are based off win/loss of strength of schedule not some arbitrary class A class AA.
And yes, I agree, GR is foolish for scheduling HT in the QRF age.

Re: QRF top 20 AA 12-9-19
I don't understand the gripe about GR scheduling Hermantown twice. Isn't it a good thing to have a tough schedule to get you battle tested for when the games actually matter. If Rapids wanted a weak schedule they would just play in the Single A. Based off of enrollment that's where they should be, instead they choose to be AA for that reason.

Re: QRF top 20 AA 12-9-19
Nothing to do with a weak schedule. The point is they could play two other good AA teams instead. If they win, they get a nice QRF boost. If they lose, they don’t take as big of a hit. And they still played two tough teams and got better, battle tested, etc.TwinCitiesImport wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 9:46 am I don't understand the gripe about GR scheduling Hermantown twice. Re: QRF top 20 AA 12-9-19
I guess my real point was, does QRF even matter? A team could technically lose every regular season game and still win state. That will NEVER happen, but it could. So other than deciding who plays who at state, does it really matter?Jeffy95 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 10:37 amNothing to do with a weak schedule. Re: QRF top 20 AA 12-9-19
Rapids is more foolish for scheduling Warroad as they are actually number one. They should drop Greenway as well. That hurt their ranking more than Hermantown last year.
Re: QRF top 20 AA 12-9-19
I see your point, but if you’re Rapids, would you rather play a QF game at home, or travel to Forest Lake? Have last change at Amsoil, or not?TwinCitiesImport wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 11:13 amI guess my real point was, does QRF even matter? I have recently got back into the High School Hockey Community, sorry, I guess I was still under the impression the section seedings were chose by the coaches in the coaches meetings. So that makes more sense then, ill see myself out haha.north_bear wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 2:09 pmWell it seeds the section so yeah it's kind of important.TwinCitiesImport wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 11:13 amI guess my real point was, does QRF even matter? No worries haha. If the coaches still seeded 7AA I wouldn't give a rip about it but now it has relevancy whether we like it or not.TwinCitiesImport wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 3:41 pmI have recently got back into the High School Hockey Community, sorry, I guess I was still under the impression the section seedings were chose by the coaches in the coaches meetings.
