Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
End of 1:
Cathedral 1, Moorhead 0
Perbix PP goal with about 0:17 remaining
End of 2:
Moorhead 4, Cathedral 2
Spuds really picking on Martin’s high blocker side
Jack Smith back in lineup for Crusaders, but they are working him in slowly
Final:
Moorhead 5, Cathedral 3
It was a very fast-paced, entertaining game, but then things became ugly towards the end. There was a scrum between both sides with about 2 minutes left, and then Bogenholm had a dangerous check from behind shortly after(Hub box score is incorrect). I don’t believe there were any ejections, but it marred an otherwise good game.

Denfeld 2, Alexandria 0 at the end of one. Denfeld scores on a 5 on 3 power play and then with one second left in the period.

Stang, this SCC Spuds game is one of the best of the year that I’ve seen
Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
Denfeld 4, Alexandria 2 at the end of two.
Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
Denfeld 4, Alex 3, 5 minutes into the third.
SOG 30-24 for Denfeld.
SOG 30-24 for Denfeld.
Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
Alex scores on the PP to make it 4-4 with Denfeld. 8 minutes to go in the third.
Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
Agreed. I mentioned it in my final write up above, but it was an outstanding game until that mass near the end.
Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
Alex 5, Denfeld 4, 4:14 left.
Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
Alex scores an empty netter with one minute left.
Alex 6, Denfeld 4. FINAL
Alex 6, Denfeld 4. FINAL
Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
Stang- my take on it was Gramer took a dumb penalty a few minutes before the brawl by roughing up just returning star Jack Smith. Things started simmering and building , and the brawl erupted a few minutes later. Clean game up until then, one of my favorite games of the year, both teams performing at peak
Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
Intense finish indeed in St Cloud! Luckily both teams' other players remained on the bench otherwise we were in the verge of an all out brawl.WestMetro wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 9:50 pm Stang- my take on it was Gramer took a dumb penalty a few minutes before the brawl by roughing up just returning star Jack Smith. Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
Yeah, that’s definitely a better summary of how things originally were instigated. I omitted that part to keep things brief, but there was plenty of fault both ways.WestMetro wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 9:50 pm Stang- my take on it was Gramer took a dumb penalty a few minutes before the brawl by roughing up just returning star Jack Smith. Agree with the comments that the Moorhead SCC game was a great game. Playoff level intensity with a lot of great plays. Fun to watch.
In regards to the mess at the end.....the situation was building as the outcome became apparent..... but the mess started when they didn’t call a penalty on 15 SCC on the interference/elbow a minute before the bigger fracas started. The penalty call on Mhd 3 was a dive. That had nothing to do with the escalation that followed.

Section 8 guy, I am going to agree with you. The penalty call on Grammar for roughing was a dive. The penalty on #9 Bogenholm? He should have been ejected for the hit. This was with less than 2 minutes left Moorhead was on a 5 on 3 due to penalty called before the two minute mark fight where a major was called on SCC with coincidental minors being accessed. Bogenholm was clearly going after Spud players after the puck dropped in SCC end. SCC did not show any composure when down 5-3 with less than 3 minutes left. But with only one loss one the year up until last night they probably were not used to being behind. I’m glad Spuds didn’t receive any game suspensions as they play in Brainerd tonight. And Moorhead vs Brainerd games always end up being controversial in Brainerd. Such lovely fans......
If anyone wants to watch the game it is on Spuds.tv in the archives.

Smith (SCC) and Johnson (Moorhead) are in a scrum on the wall.
Triggs (Moorhead) comes in and lays a very dirty hit to the back of Smith (SCC) this is what caused the fight.
Perbix (SCC) goes after Triggs for the cheap hit and then a fight.
Bad by both teams here Triggs and Perbix should of both been ejected.
Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
8 and Potato , agree everything about the last two minutes, but all I know is if the Gramer hit on Smith at about the 5 minute mark was a dive , it fooled me , the ref, the announcer, and the SCC bench cause there seemed to be a big reaction by the kids on bench when it happened.
It was a little behind the play and camera angle wasn’t great , so wondering if anyone at the game had a closeup look at it ?

Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
Class A......you missed the opening Salvo. Triggs was reacting to defend Johnson. The dirty hit was Perbix on Johnson right before that which is why Perbix ended up with the 5 minute major.
Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
No I watched your spud tv stream with your announcing. I know the Spuds were mad about a high hit by 15 Zins (SCC).Section 8 guy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 10:10 am Class A......you missed the opening Salvo. Triggs was reacting to defend Johnson. Bad scene no defending either side Both Perbix should of been thrown and for sure Triggs who comes in and Hammers Smith in the number from behind with intent to injury. That is not a defending teammates that is just dumb.
I am not a fan of the Crusaders but Spuds had just a much to do with that scene SCC.
SCC fell apart late in this one meanwhile.... Alexandria had a Great Come from behind win over Denfeld in their 4th game in 5 days!
6A is going to be very Tight Alexandria is on the rise late!

Re: Games Friday 2/7/20
Both teams clearly played a role and were penalized accordingly. No one could deny that. But in these situations usually the first hit or blow matters and is often why the events that follow happen and are also often penalized as such as they were here. You are representing that one hit started the fracas. There was a very dangerous hit that took place before that which the refs served a major for. When you are describing what started the melee you can’t just selectively ignore the initial dangerous hit.
