SJU!

johnnie hockey rocks. that was my first game and i've gotta say i love how they announce the starting line, and the fog horn is the best. UST's rink is a dump compared to SJU's.

SJU needs that new rink in my opinion. The majority of the players at SJU hate driving 20 minutes to practice everyday and the rink is baron for most games.

The Johnnies, however, are really fun to watch. They could compete with the low end D-1 teams, in my opinion. I was at the SJU-UST game on Thursday night as well, and it was a VERY competitive game with tons of talent on the ice.

Too bad SJU lost the series finale 4-1...but Harrington will have them playing good when it really matters.
"2A You are a true Cidiot" - IronRanger4ever

SJU

Post by hillhockey »

i too want SJU to get a new rink, like the one that was planned in St. Joe, but that deal fell through. I really hate that I cant get to many SJU games because they dont have a bus that goes to all of them. The only reason I was able to go was they provided a bus this time.

The actual building UST uses is nicer than SJU's but SJU has the use of the big screen, and the spot lights.. That's all I was referring to when i said SJU had the better rink.

I believe, but am not positive, that the big screen was only on cause it was such a big game. I went to a couple at the very beginnning of the season and dont recall it being on. The NHC is a really nice facility, but all the hockey players I know wish there was one in St. Joe (or on campus for that matter, that empty field that they use for parking could work out nice...) but a rink is not going to come anytime soon. Also the NHC is nicer than a lot of the other teams facilities (minus St. Mary and Gustavus I believe they are the only two with rinks on campus) St. Olaf has the worst. They use Northfield High School's rink. Four years of playing one game there was more than enough...

What about the field by the radio tower? I know its where they play rugby, but its not like thats the only field on campus. There are the fields just past the monastic gardens where they play ultimate frisbee in the fall. Rugby could be played there if a rink was built on their current field.

I know I would go to more games if it were on campus or in St. Joe-its just so hard to get to the NHC if you dont have a car on campus.

It would be a really nice thing for SJU to get a rink on campus. They would get more students to their games and they are within a walking distance of the rink at all times and not a 20-25 minute drive from the rink. Which I'm sure the players would really like, because it probably isn't very fun to drive that distance twice a day and they would also save gas money, which is what mostly all college kids are completely up for.
