Gopher Hockey

Post by RinkRat10506 »

So how about those gophers? I can't believe they lost and tied this weekend. Maybe once they get the lines put together they will mold, and start to play like they should. I though Wheeler looked good, same with Guyer. Kessel can sure move the puck and skate.

I liked what I saw in their young goaltender, Frazee. He and Briggs might be sharing more time than anyone thought, if he continues to play like he did Saturday night.

I agree that it will take some time for those lines to gel. The offense is clearly talented and they go 4 lines deep probably better than anyone in the country. The defense did look a little shaky and there was a lot of sloppy play. It was the first series of the season and rust was apparent. After a few weeks they will have cemented themselves as a Top 5 team.

I wasn't to impressed with kessel until this past weekend. I thought that Wheeler was doing better.

After this past weekend though, man Kessel is good. He can pass very well, and has a pretty damn hard shot. I think the Gophers are going to turn it around now. I was starting to get worried.

PJ ATHERTON

Post by Hockeyisthebest21 »

It is about time PJ Atherton played decent. He has been respobsible for numerous goal this season. He actually connected with a few hits this weekend. Lucia must be playing him becasue of Hagemo's injury. Is it just me or is he the worst defensemen on the team?

Lucia vs Mason

Post by EREmpireStrikesBack »

I know it is all about the revenue they produce, but does it make sense that Glen Mason wins 6 or 7 games and gets near a million a year and Lucia wins 2 Nat'l Championships and gets 1/4 of that. But I guess that's the way it is...

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

So anyone think Kessel will stay another year? I hope he and Wheeler stay, and then Johnson comes and plays for us. Will we be stacked.

EREmpire

Post by RinkRat10506 »

I agree with what ER says. It's crap that the hockey is always overshadowed by dumb football. The Gopher hockey program has and will always be more productive than the football team. Yeah, Lucia should get paid more than Glen Mason. I cant believe I agreed with ER on something.

Do you really want to go there Lee? Because it is pretty well known that a high percentage of UMD players drink their fair share of "refreshments" at the local establishments in Duluth.
