Might be the worst Friday night in years. Interested to see attendance tonight.

We love to ruin quarterfinal Thursday.
I expect there will be about 8,000 bodies in the building tonight.
Hockey Is For Everyone
Re: 3 Privates & EP walk into a pub
I wasn't terribly interested in EP vs Edina last year either. But I tuned in anyway and caught a pretty good game. And while both teams didn't lose, which was my preference, I was glad I watched. In the end, this is about good hockey. EP vs Blake has some good story lines...
Re: 3 Privates & EP walk into a pub
I would think most people just want to see good hockey games. I don’t think the majority of people care as much about public vs. private as much as people on this board want to believe.

You are generally correct. I have had a dozen people in the last 24 hours text me about the State tourney, and about Hill in particular. Texts coming in constantly during the game. These are casual fans who I can guarantee don’t watch any regular season games and probably couldn’t name a single player on any team. They don’t have some weird bias against what teams are playing. They enjoy great games and great players. Do you honestly believe that the kids growing up in the northern half of the state, that love hockey, are just not going to watch tonight or Saturday??? If the Vikings don’t make the Super Bowl do you stop watching all the other playoff games and Super Bowl? 99.9999 would say no. Attendance might be down, because you don’t have the huge fan bases/students. But from my experience the vast majority of people tuning in are looking to watch fun games and great players making great plays. No shortage of that coming up in either class.
The City of Hill Murray is beautiful this time of year

HS hockey fans will still watch, less of the average fans will though, and that makes up a pretty good portion of the typical viewership. Like was said above, you don’t have the town/community following either at the game or on tv as you otherwise would, but you also don’t have the same Cinderella story or single villain that Minnesotans so love to cheer for and against. If we had to pick, I guess STA is the Cinderella story?? It’s a strange year indeed.
Re: 3 Privates & EP walk into a pub
I guess for me, it's more that I just don't care who wins now, which makes me lose interest. Does it allow me to be more objective? Sure, but where is the fun in that? Having some vested interest just inherently makes sports more interesting to watch. And it's not that I have anything against the kids at these private schools, but I just don't have the interest in what they are selling.
I'll probably toss the games on still, but I won't be paying close attention overall.

I’d say Blake. Not a lot of (recent?) tournament success.ThatMNHockeyGuy62 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 8:13 am HS hockey fans will still watch, less of the average fans will though, and that makes up a pretty good portion of the typical viewership. There will be 4 great hockey games played today at the X. If people can get over ther names and zone in on the games, they can be entertaining. I think everyone should remember when watching these games, they are HIGH SCHOOL teams. Cant find anything else like it

Should make for great hockey hopefully. I'm not psyched that I'll have no rooting interest, but if I had to pick a team it would be Blake as the newest arrival to AA.

I'll be at Mariucci instead with 100 other people. But, better than watching two games where the public doesn't care to even pick a side. Gonna be a snoozefest relative to most Friday nights.

The AA matchups tonight are a northern high school hockey fan's worst nightmare. I applaud defense and BlueLineSpecial for keeping it real. Speaks to being a just a fan of good hockey. Having 3 privates and Eden Prairie in the semis heralds the end to the high school hockey season for me. I will watch the A games, being a partisan, provincial northern hockey guy who would love to see a Hermantown-Warroad matchup. But AA is where it's at.WBLPuck99 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 8:39 am I guess for me, it's more that I just don't care who wins now, which makes me lose interest. Does it allow me to be more objective? If recruiting is how great teams are being built, then I implore Grand Rapids to get Christian Galatz and family to move there this offseason. I hear that he's leaning toward joining the Wilderness next season. It is obvious that based on last night's results (and last year's and the previous year's and . . . ), goal scorers are absolutely required at every level of hockey. A team can count on them for getting a goal per game, and they raise the level of play of their teammates. Galatz would look great on in orange, particularly if Peart returns and DelGreco comes back healthy, stronger and more skilled.

I’ll be looking for a ticket to tonight’s session, so if demand for tickets is down, that OK with meEast Side Pioneer Guy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 7:36 amWe love to ruin quarterfinal Thursday.
