Section realignments occur every 2 years. This is year 1 of a 2 year cycle. So it wouldn't happen until after the 2020-2021 season
Re: 7A - Thoughts
Not knowing much at all about Cloquet's situation, I wont comment on them specifically. I do, however think it is a mistake to start on the road to moving to class A just because you can. In many programs, the idea that we should play where the league puts us because we can be more successful there has spiderwebbed to most other programs related to it ( youth hockey, other sports in the school, etc). And many times at least for the outstate teams, they would have similar results in class A or AA.
Without me looking at all, would Cloquet advance any further in 7A than in 7AA this year, or more importantly for years in the future? The idea becomes a moot point many places when you compare a team's result in class A sections against the probable results they would or could achieve in their prospective AA section.

And A in youth hockey as well. Not just high school. I’m all for it and Lumberjacks nation, youth parents and kids, in our program are very happy I’m out with it. I’d say it’s 70/30 were A in a year.defense wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 4:03 pm Not knowing much at all about Cloquet's situation, I wont comment on them specifically. I think Knivsey just likes the drama. Stirring up the same topic in both 7A and 7AA thread. It is not like he has any influence over what Cloquet hockey decides to do with their hockey program at the high school level.defense wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 4:03 pm Not knowing much at all about Cloquet's situation, I wont comment on them specifically. Cloquet to A???
I’m surprised at the amount of teams that should be AA but play A and choose to compete at a lesser level. Furthermore I’m surprised the league allows it. Wasn’t the A league created to give teams that usually wouldn’t make it to state, have a chance to now make it and have the experience? They should bring tier 1 tier 2 back. If they don’t I won’t be surprised if Edina opts down soon

Semifinals at Amsoil tomorrow night. I have low expectations for a competitive game in the first one, though to Eveleth's credit, the Golden Bears did stick around into the third period in the early regular season meeting. They have a nice senior class with some rocks on D who could at least keep my attention...but Hermantown has also been lighting it up against inferior competition late in the season, and their depth will likely overwhelm everyone else in this section over time.
The nightcap, however, could be one of the best games in the state tomorrow. Fun clash between Greenway's battle-tested veterans trying to make one last run and upstart Denfeld trying to prove they're a contender now. Should be a great end to a long day of hockey at Amsoil.

Agreed. That Denfeld-Greenway game should be excellent. Denfeld won the early season matchup 4-1 (SOG 33-21 Denfeld), but the Raiders may have been missing one of their studs, if I remember correctly. I'll take Greenway to win 5-3 (en).karl(east) wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 10:16 pm Semifinals at Amsoil tomorrow night. Eveleth's late season stumble against Hibbing cost them the #3 seed, unfortunately. Gotta face Hermantown sometime if you're gonna hope to get out of 7A, but possibly having one more playoff game would have been nice for them.

Re: 7A - Thoughts
No surprises in the first semi, but the second one was pretty entertaining. Greenway had a couple of pipes in the first period and some great looks; they seemed to be doing everything right but were snakebitten, while Denfeld found ways to finish their chances. This Greenway team was not built to mount comebacks; that's just so much to ask of their top players, who were starting to look pretty gassed in the 2nd. They found another gear in the 3rd but couldn't bring back the old magic. So ends an impressive run by the Raiders, who will always have last year for us.
Congrats to Denfeld on a section final, though! Well-deserved for this program, and this could be the start of a multi-year run. Their ability to finish made the difference.

As EGF is to Warroad in 8A. CEC would be to Hermantown in 7A. I also like the sound of youth hockey at CEC doing away with AA in favor of A.

And then Pat Andrews would recruit that cow to the Hawks so it could "get noticed", and you and the other Hermantown bobos would say "Man, that cow was nothing but a cud-chewing milk bag at its hometown school. Now it's the fastest thing on four skates, thanks to our magic small-town hockey program!"

Re: 7A - Thoughts
“Recruit” lol. Hermantown needs to recruit is like a saying a dog needs to recruit fleas. Now If that cow “chooses” to go to Hermantown as a youngster he would have the opportunity to develop as a hockey player as good or better atrainier2 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 7:11 pmAnd then Pat Andrews would recruit that cow to the Hawks so it could "get noticed", and you and the other Hermantown bobos would say "Man, that cow was nothing but a cud-chewing milk bag at its hometown school. HAHA any other youth program in the state. Hermantown’s youth program is one of if not the best in the state. It attracts quality. Nobody is stopping any program of doing any of the things you accuse Hermantown of doing. Too bad you whiners don’t focus on improving your own programs. For the record, hoping HT goes to AA at the next opportunity.

I guess I will see what kind of traction my social media blitz attracts with the Lumberjack faithful over the next year. Hopefully CEC Lumberjacks boys high school hockey joining 7A in 2021-2022 season.

CEC would be preseason behind Hermantown and Duluth Denfeld for sure. Come on, dorks.

Re: 7A - Thoughts
Would CEC even be in 7A for sure? There are already ten teams, and we've seen Hermantown, Proctor, and Duluth Marshall all go to 5A previously, and CEC is further south than all of them.
Maybe CEC and DM both go to 5A, if they go down to A after next season.

Re: 7A - Thoughts
I guess that’s a possibility. It don’t matter to me where we’d be placed. Nobody really plays anybody in their own section anymore. I tend to think Marshall and CEC will have to be placed somewhere, and I’d prefer 7A. Maybe 8A would also be a possibility.rainier2 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 9:39 pm Would CEC even be in 7A for sure?
