Robbie Earl from Wisconsin is up there on my list, but I'll have to go with Brett Sterling winning the Hobey Baker Award. He's really tearing it up out there and he is the leading goal scorer in the nation and is carrying his team's scoring load along with Marty Sertich.

Earl for Hobey is a joke. If he can't beat a guy one on one, he is useless. He doesn't use his teammates very well and he is a diver. Not to mention, he isn't even the top scoring guy on his own team. He would never be considered for Hobey.

yes he is a diver he took a dive against the gophers and got a penalty for it. Gophers swept the badgers baby.

Matt Carle for Hobey Baker Award 2006

Carle (Denver Pioneers) is the best defenseman in college hockey. He is a threat and a dominant force on both ends of the ice. Check his Hobey site for more information.

www.carleforhobey.com

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... Robbie Earl certainly is not a joke. He is one of the best players in the state. And he can SURELY beat just about anyone one on one.

Earl is "so good" that he is barely in the top 20 in the country in scoring as a junior. Hobey Baker? I think not. Not even close.

Matt Carle looks like the WCHA's best shot for the Hobey this year.

There are definitely some serious candidates in the WCHA, but if you're looking outside the league you can find candidates in Chris Collins (Boston College), Scott Parse (Nebraska-Omaha), or T.J Hensick (Michigan). With that being said, I think the winner comes from the WCHA. Potulny could even sneak in the running if he continues to score at this rate. Here's my final 3.

1-Brett Sterling (CC)
2-Matt Carle (Denver)
3-Chris Collins (BC)

Elliot sneaks in there if he comes back from injury soon and returns to his pre-injury form.

I think that Potulny Sealed some well needed respect after this weekends play at Alaska, he is probably going to win the hobey-leading scorer in WCHA-something like 51 or 52 points (at the least 50) but still he would be my best bet...

1. Potulny
2. Carle
3. Sterling

coming back from injury, elliot was horrible in net, letting 6 goals on friday, then like 3 or 4 before getting pulled on saturday, the previous weekend he gave up 4 to Tech, i'd say he's out of the running as of now, also Sterling isn't putting up with Carle and Potulny's numbers...my bet would be as of now:

1) Carle
2)Potulny
3)Collins

It should definetly b Ryan Potulny. He leads the nation in goals, and powerplay goals. He doesn't lead the nation in points, but that's because he plays in the toughest conference in college hockey, which he leads in points. Potulny has been the biggest difference maker for the Gophers and he should win the Hobey Baker.

If you woulda asked me 3 weeks ago, I would have said that Carle has it hands down. He has 53 pts and he is a Defenseman! I think that is pretty sick at the college level. I have a feeling that if Denver doesn't make the NCAA's, he will be in an NHL uniform shortly. However, I will have to agree with Potulny. He is on fire and right now is the best player on the best team in the country and his stats don't lie. It should be interesting to see what happens, but in my mind, the race is between Carle and Potulny.

They should give it to Jimmy Kilpatrick considering the Mr. Hockey Screwing he endured.
Taylor Mattson-The Next Non-Mr. Hockey

Kilpatrick...

Post by puckiNnet19 »

Hobey Baker.... I think not. Mr. Hockey his senior year? No question he should have won it. Nate Dey won it and you can't use the soft schedule approach on Kilpatrick because NSP doesnt exactly play in an outstanding conference either. I've seen Dey play over a dozen times at SCSU and I dont feel he is in the same league as Kilpatrick. Let's get serious, if SCSU gets Mr. Hockey... he can't be that good.

Potulny (44 goals) should get it, but Carle just got WCHA player of the year and defensive player of the year; if he loses to Potulny after this it'd be a big upset. Had Elliot not gotten hurt it would have been him I think.
