Just curious, how old is Coach Randolph? He's been coaching a long time, but I don't have a clue how old he is

Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21
He would certainly be interested. However, as I believe Coach Randolph made clear at the team banquet a year ago, he intends on being there until he gets the all-time wins record.ironranger2 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 9:00 am If the AA coach near the large body of water is nearing retirement, is Clafton a viable option?

Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21
I don’t think this is an option for Coach Clafton to pursue because if Coach Randolph joins Team North, then all Hounds players are ineligible to play on Team North.

Raider... if you were asking this in reference to my post about who was possibly joining Grant on the North bench, it's not Randolph.greenwayraider wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 7:25 am Wonder if it could be a AA couch nearby a large body of water. He’s close to retirement.

He'd obviously be a great choice... But, it's not him either. To be clear, I haven't heard that the person I'm referencing has definitively said yes. Waiting to hear back from him. Same person may also be joining a Duluth area staff for the coming season.

The coach hasn't been announced, but he is a great fit and has deep roots in the boys and girls programs in Hibbing. It will be great to have someone that will have a program wide approach finally.greenwayraider wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 3:14 pm What’s the status of the search for a new coach for Hibbing?

Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21
Wouldn’t surprise me if Hibbing was the surprise team and got a home spot come playoff.
Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21
Has to be Pete Hyduke. Hes been a coach for both programs.ShakestheClown wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 9:47 pmThe coach hasn't been announced, but he is a great fit and has deep roots in the boys and girls programs in Hibbing. As for Clafton asking a "big name" guy to help out. I was all in on guessing Bruce Plante until someone said he may be an assistant with a program. His grandson must be playing on team north.
Now unless its Derek Plante....that could be interesting
Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21
Outstanding. Some good teams coming up for Hibbing. Great to know they'll have a committed coach.ShakestheClown wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 9:47 pmThe coach hasn't been announced, but he is a great fit and has deep roots in the boys and girls programs in Hibbing. Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21
If the new coach can get those incoming sophomores up to speed by midseason, I think you'll be right.greenwayraider wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 1:11 pm Wouldn’t surprise me if Hibbing was the surprise team and got a home spot come playoff.
Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21
It’s got to be Mark DeCenzo coaching Elites with Grant. He’s now the Hibbing girls assistant under Pete Hyduke.
Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21
Been quiet on the filling of the coaching openings. Anyone hear any updates of the 5 open roles?

Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21
I think there was an article in the local paper about a Rewertz(?) being named coach at Hibbing. Was a former player for Hibbing back in the early 90s and was involved with boys and girls youth levels. Tried to find the link online, but could not find it.
Also, I have heard that the coach at Virginia is staying. Trying to get confirmation on that.
Also heard that Sertich was taking the job at Greenway, but again I don't have confirmation yet.
Rumor has it this will be the last year for Virginia and Eveleth and that they will be combined for the 21-22 season. The original plan was to play as separate teams until the new high school opened. I think budget concerns are moving them to combine all sports earlier.

Forgot one.
Jeff Laspi was named head hockey coach at Proctor. Was most recently an assistant for the Proctor-Hermanton girls team.

Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21
I talked to former Greenway coach Pat Guyer about combining w/Rapids a couple of years ago referencing when the team was just starting to rebuildgreenwayraider wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 7:08 pm Your ignorance is showing again. Greenway pulls a couple of kids from JV each year. Most of the JV kids never make varsity. Most of the players come from bantams. Any kids with some talent are immediately pulled to varsity. Their bantam team last year was competitive, in fact beat Rapids AA team in overtime. Their Bantam team should be competitive again this year. Their PeeWees were terrible but their Squirts were very talented especially with the young Rajala returning that group will be even better. So the demise of Greenway hockey has been greatly exaggerated. They have two teams at each level. They will hit some rough times like this year but will bounce back. Most Greenway fans would rather be 0-25 then be swelled up by Rapids. Please don’t pursue this topic anymore, you’ll only embarrass yourself further.
10 or so years ago & he said "That was not an option!" LOL!
Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21
Todd Huyber stepped down as the Rochester Mayo coach earlier this week.

Can confirm the new Hibbing coach is Eric Rewertz. Already appears that he will be much more involved and progressive when it comes to the youth program. Great hire, IMO.ironranger2 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 10:07 am I think there was an article in the local paper about a Rewertz(?) being named coach at Hibbing. If he gets the buy in from parents, that program will be consistently back in the top 4 of section 7 on a yearly basis.
