The Gophers are on a roll right now, except for the UND loss a month ago, they haven't lost forever, Briggs is on, they're getting goals and beating quality opponents. WIS just got swept by MSU, Denver just lost to ND, and the teams out east have been upset once or twice.

GOPHERS ALL THE WAY

I agree with crosby. The gophers are playing there best hockey right now and I think it will last all the way to the National Championship.

I think the Gophers have the inside track right now... However, I would like to see the CC Tigers win it this year! The Gophers won it back to back a few years ago and the Tigers have not won the NCAA's since the 1950's... I also think Boston U and Michigan State have a realistic shot...

Nobody comes close to the Gophers right now. Potulny is on fire, their defensemen are playin better than ever, and Briggs has been steppin up. No doubt in my mind that the Gophers will take the title. It defenitely won't go to somebody out east if it's not Minnesota.

They aren't so on fire anymore. They've lost 2 straight. They finished 4th in the WCHA final 5

I can't believe how wide open the race has become. A few weeks ago the gophs looked like a lock to get to the frozen four. No Dak had to fight at the end of the year just to get home ice in the first round of the wcha's, now they look extremely well tuned for a run. Throw in a hot BU and Mich St. team and who knows whats going to happen. Not to mention Bucky playing at home. Should be an awesome tourny.

The Gophers won't even make it to the frozen four. They would have to beat Nodak in Grand Forks to get there. Pssssssssssh yeah right like that's gonna happen. First they lose to SCSU, then they get walked all over by Wisconsin. Not good signs. Oh, and their goalies are terrible. That won't help either.

I am sticking with my NCAA prediction as seen above... BU, CC, MSU and MN in the Frozen Four.

Wisconsin will win it. They have home ice advantage throughout the tournament.

If we choose Boston in this poll, do we get both BU and BC?

What about Harvard?

I would honestly be tempted to pick Denver if they had made the tournament.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... wker>Mitch Hawker at: 3/20/06 9:45 am

That was early in the year, that was then, this is now. The Sioux are on a roll now, and the Gophers are sucking it up. As much as I would like to see the Gophers win it all, I just have a bad feeling it's not going to happen.

Sucking it up is a bit of a stretch, they lost two games over the weekend, before that they had only lost once since New Years and were the hottest team in the nation. The Gophers beat the Sioux three times this year and outplayed them in every game, ND does have home ice, but the Gophers are superior in talent and experience. Should be a fun one if they meet.

West Regional Upset?

Post by ThunderStorm22 »

Who do you think could get upset in the first round of this regional? The Gophers WILL beat HC but I think it is entirely possible for ND to overlook Michigan and get beat... So an anticipated UM vs ND matchup may never materialize...

True. It would be nice to see the Gophers play UND though because of their rivalry with the Sioux, and I think that would be a much better game then MN vs. Michigan would be.

In a mild upset, UND will beat the Gophers in the finals. Just like last year UND is playing very well right now, they're at Home and Parise is a big game goalie. The only wildcard I see in the Gophers favor in that Potulny and Irmen generally play very well at Englestad. They better, because the Gophers can't get by the Sioux without them.
I predict another all WCHA final, Wisconsin vs. UND. Wisconsin 5 eng
UND 3

I am with you thunderstorm, If the Gophers get by HC in the early game the Sioux might have a lot of gopher in the back of their heads instead of Wolverine. I think the ND/MIch game could be the best game to watch in all the first round games. Michigan will come ready to play. ND in the regional final is not set in stone yet.

Anyone else feel just a little bad for Cornell. I am not a Cornell fan at all but I do think they got the shaft 2 years in a row. Last year playing Minnesota IN Minnesota. This year Possibly having to play Wisconsin IN Wisconsin. Cornell's a good enough squad who's deserved a little better.

dasher i dont think its fair to say that the gophers ONLY wildcard is potulny and irmen the line of kessel gordon wheeler isnt too bad last i checked and stoa kessel wheeler can also do the scoring for 1 game also...either way the gophers will play well they werent excited to win the macnaughton cup they had other accomplishments they wanted more
