2021 State Tournament
Is the 2021 state tournament single elimination this year? Did the do away with the consolation bracket and 3rd place game due to covid? I was looking at the bracket on mshsl.org, and saw no consolation or 3rd place games listed. I know covid is still an issue to avoid, and I saw the Centennial girls team fell victim to quarantine. I get why they are taking a minimalistic approach, but it was still fun to follow all of the games, not just the winners bracket.

Yes, single elimination, no consolation bracket.
Re: 2021 State Tournament
I didn't know that. Makes sense I suppose. But no 0-2 chants this year. Or Mariucci...
Sudden end to the season.
Re: 2021 State Tournament
Yeah, they could at least have had a third place game.kpryan88 wrote: โFri Mar 26, 2021 12:32 pm Is the 2021 state tournament single elimination this year? No time unless they were going to rent another building. Saturday will have both classes of Girls Hockey Championships and Boys Hockey Championships. And with the limited fans (ie. $$$), I would guess the MSHSL didn't want to rent another building.jdh wrote: โFri Mar 26, 2021 3:26 pmYeah, they could at least have had a third place game.kpryan88 wrote: โFri Mar 26, 2021 12:32 pm Is the 2021 state tournament single elimination this year? Re: 2021 State Tournament
I heard the players in the State Tournament have to get dressed prior to going into the Xcel Energy Center, can someone confirm that?
Re: 2021 State Tournament
Yes single elimination with a consolation bracket.
Single elimination in the championship bracket.
You lose a SINGLE game and you are out of the championship.
And I have been watching since the 50s.
It is single elimination.

Hickory if you're from the southern part of the state. I think ironwood or tamarack up north.

Re: 2021 State Tournament
Single elimination means you lose and you go home. Canโt go 0-2 in a single elimination tournament. I hear what you are saying and I do realize that in a true double elimination tournament, you are still alive to win the championship. The implication I was stating is that there are no more games when you lose in this tournament (single elimination).

No no no.
A double elimination tournament means you can lose one game & still win the championship. Losing one game & moving to the consolation round is a single elimination tournament.

Re: 2021 State Tournament
Agree, I think the original question was simply around whether or not there's a consolation bracket, which of course there is not this year due to the pandemic.
Let's face it, while the consolation bracket is a soft landing for the team, especially the seniors, there really isn't much interest in those games beyond the team and their family members. Absolutely nothing wrong with that at all, but the point being with all the things that have been "lost" this past year+, this one probably isn't that impactful.

May have been covered in another thread , apologize if it has been
For the quarterfinals, will the arena be cleared out after each game?
For the semi โs, increased to 600 tickets per school? Same question, will the arena be cleared out after each game

My source reports: 125 fans per team. Teams com dressed, only put on skates, entering from underground.Fans allowed in 30 min before puck drop, out immediately after the end. Seating is from Sec 101 - 107. Only concessions are a grab & go. Enter gate 1, out gate 2.

I recently switched to AT&T TV and don't think I get Channel 45. Will these games be streamed on the Channel 45 website? Is there a cost?
