Time to take down the other 218 team for the Huskey's. LET'S GO!!!!!!!!~
Re: 2022 Class AA QF - #5 Andover vs #4 Moorhead
Very juicy. Andover played one of its best games of the season against Rapids and Moorhead didn't look impressive against Elk River. I think Moorhead rebounds and I'll take them 4-2 over Andover with one ENG.

Going with the Spuds in this one , in a close game .
Re: 2022 Class AA QF - #5 Andover vs #4 Moorhead
I watched Hill play both. Andover mirrored Hill in many ways and ended up winning 2-1 in OT. Andover was fast, disciplined defensively and could really skate. It was a really good game that could have gone either way.
Hill had a little of an easier time with Moorhead even though they won that one in OT 5-4 (scoring with all of 8 seconds left). Moorhead can score goals in bunches but Andover can defend. So I'll go with defense and say Andover wins a close one, although my heart is with Moorhead.

This has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time. Why advertise the 2nd game will start 2 hours after the listed start time of the first game of the session? Games take approximately 2 hours, or more with TV timeouts, and then there's a 30 minute gap between the end of the first game and the start of the 2nd game. If the first game goes to OT, all bets are off as to what time the 2nd game will start.
The first game never gets started on time to begin with anyway. They have the player introductions and then the national anthem first. So the game doesn't get started until 10-15 minutes later than it's listed.
I realize there's no way for them to know exactly what time the 2nd game of the session will start, but at least set it for 2 hours + 30-45 minutes later than the start time of the first game.

OK this has been a burr under my saddle for a long time as well. If you go back to the late 70's the times listed were 12:00 and 2:15. In the 80's they got more realistic, giving an approximate start time of 2:45. Maybe 10 or 12 years ago the times were moved up an hour. The first game was listed as 11:00, but then the second game was listed as 1:00, which made no sense at all. (I know, I know, you're shocked to learn the MSHSL makes illogical decisions.)
And to top it off, over the years the puck drop for the first game got pushed back as far as 19 minutes after the hour. They said they moved the start times up by an hour so school kids wouldn't need to be up so late (works for Old Guys too!), then they let TV dictate the 19 minutes.
I saw on the MSHSL web site a couple weeks back that the puck drop would be at :08 after the hour, I just tuned in to the evening A games out of curiosity, and find the opening faceoff was right about :10.
This is in no way my biggest concern; life is pretty good when this is a burr under your saddle. But I do fell better getting this off my chest.

You guys should start a new topic about the game times. This is worth further discussion. It’s annoying for those watching on tv.East Side Pioneer Guy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 6:31 pmOK this has been a burr under my saddle for a long time as well. I'll just blame Sparlimb for opening that vein, and call it good.

Getting back to the topic of the game, I'll just say the Spuds better be ready. I'm sure the Andover players remember the 6-1 spanking at the hands of the Spuds back in December. They will be looking to avenge that loss tonight, for sure. That was their worst loss of the season.

Lou Nanne had no back bone to say the goal should be disallowed until after the refs reviewed it and said NO GOAL!
Then after they do that, he says ya I knew that would happen!!

It looks like the board went to bed early and missed the best game of the quarter finals. Glad Andover ended up winning and didn’t lose the emotional edge after the two disallowed goals.

Well they matched up the two northern teams, so at least one of them made it to the semis.

I just about threw the towel in when Casey shot over the net, but he did redeem himself stabbing the puck outta the air and game winning assist. Another fine goaltending display preserved. Kudos to Andover. They looked like they were getting killed then outplayed em in the OTs.
